Nautilus - Address bar, Search

Description:

Some improvements for nautilus which are basically built in allready or are rather simple to do so.

You maybe have seen the address bar effect somewhere. I think it can be very useful, we should discuss on how it should be done and I think we really should implement something like that.

The Search box also can be veerry handy. In special when you are searching files in a huge folder. This is basically built in in nautilus, press ctrl+s (uses wildcards).

More description in the Screenshot/Mockup.

I completely agree, that's a good idea.
But it hink that it would be a bit hard to realize it.

impossible is nothing, but sometimes it comes hard

as i said:
this search feature is nearly implemented, just press ctrl+s and search a phrase by using wildcards, then matching objects will be selected.

and the other thing:
well, we could keep the buttons by adding / buttons. and to list folders of a directory cannot be difficult for an file browser ;)

If you press the button to get a text menu and start typing the full path in nautilus, it should show you the folders that match what you are typing.

Please leave the buttons as an option, it is so much easier to travel up and down a path.

 Search is there

Searching is already implemented, just type what you are looking for and a textbox will appear and will select the first match of what you looked for, it's the same in most gtktreelistviews.

Nice idea.
Curiously enough, of my entire shuffling music collection, Eels appeared the moment I read that.
