Deb package

by DoruHush on: Jul 2 2007

Score 50%

You provide a deb package in the release.
I try to install, but it tell me that
it can't do that because the package is
broken or I do not have the permission to
install. I check the permission and I have
all the rights. So the only conclusion is
that the package is broken.
If I run the application from src/Multimedia Converter/LinConverter.kmdr
from Komander Editor it works. But is to complicated to do that every time.

Actually you don't have to use the editor even if you don't have the deb installed. Use "kmdr-executer xxx.kmdr" from command line.

 How to run it?

 by Zibi1981 on: Aug 12 2007

Score 50%

I installed it on my Mandriva 2007.1 from the .rpm package found inside, but when i try to run the application (from K-Menu -> Multimedia -> Audio -> Multimedia Converter) nothing happens :-( When trying to run it from console I get
[zibi1981@localhost ~]$ kmdr-executor /usr/local/LinConverter/LinConverter.kmdr
bash: kmdr-executor: command not found
Can someone help me with this, please.

Do have Kommander or Kommander-Runtime installed?
Since the error message tells you that kmdr-executer is unknown I guess you haven't. Install one of these packages and it should work

Yes, it was the case. But now I've installed kommander-executor and the program starts, but I cannot make it to work. When I choose a file, a .flv i.e., then indicate where I want it to be saved and click "FLV >> AVI", nothing really happens :-( Only a flash of the console. How to convert files from one format to another?

I guess either the path to the encoder isn't set correctly or the neccessary codec isn't isntalled.
Check the third tab if everything entered there is correct and if the programs are really installed.
Keep in mind, this is only a GUI and can't convert anything by its own. It just starts a command line tool (mencoder or transcode) to do the actual work, and of course those tools need to be installed.

I'm aware of the fact that this is only a GUI for those applications :-) I'm also pretty sure that I have them installed already. Maybe it's a wrong path to codecs issue, becasue i.e. on this third tab it's wroted

Quote:
- Win32 Codec : http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/windows-all-20061022.zip
Path : /usr/win32

and I have them in /usr/lib/win32/...

 DEB Package

 by gbc921 on: Sep 30 2008

Score 50%

I saw some people complaining about the 'deb' package that is joined with the '.targz'.
Really the package has a problem.

I found a solution:
Convert the 'rpm' package with alien to a 'deb' package.

Just install it:
$ sudo aptitude install alien (for Debian users)

After going to the directory folder that you extracted the program, and do a the command: (if you didn't changed the package name)

$ sudo alien mconverter-1.0-2.i386.rpm
After that alien will make a 'deb' package that is just install like you way. (I simple give two clicks on the package. +D)

I hope that I can help someone.
