Description:

The X.org Setup is a visual X.org 7.x setup utility that can detect video cards, monitors, etc.

It is capable of running from a console, even though it is written entirely in KDE/Qt.

It requires OpenSuSE's hwinfo and HAL/DBus support, and is part of the DARKSTAR Linux Project.

NOTE: The development of the X.org Setup is sponsored by the easys GNU/Linux, http://easys.gnulinux.de.

Changelog:

The Xorg Setup is now part of ALICE (Advanced Linux Installation and Configuration Environment), the installation/configuration suite developed by the DARKSTAR team, for the Slackware based systems.

As application, the X.org Setup have more, more fixes and enhancements than previous version.

Neat stuff. The 1st two screens look like the prompts I get while running the sax2 X setup util on Suse...

Me wonders if this app is a next step from there...

"Fehler" means "Error". I don't know what this could be, I have installed several libqt* packages.

This means as some environment mistakes...

Please, specify the distribution, gcc version and bare KDE and Qt version...

Thank you for your quick response.

Distro: Kubuntu 7.04
gcc: 4.1.2
KDE: 3.5.6
Qt: 3.3.7 or 3.3.8
(Version: 3:3.3.8really3.3.7-0ubuntu5)
I think this is a patched 3.3.7

Seems like the used versions for development...

On the Debian like systems, the separately "devel" packages is required for aplications building...

Is this "devel" packages installed?

The devel-packages are all installed. I think there should be a message when I run ./configure. It looks like there are some qt libraries missing, but i don't know which ones. I think I have all necessary installed.

A idea!

Extract the tarball in to new ( and empty ) directory...

Create a directory "build" in the source tree...

Run "../configure"

Send my at wwww.darkstarlinux.ro/contact , the "configure.log", if have build problems...

Thanks...

1st time compiling fixes:

The compiler can't find the Qt headers...

Use this command, before compile:
export CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH=$QTDIR/include:$CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH

On the Slackware like systems ( used for X.org Setup development ), this is done automatically...

I work on a Ubuntu fixed new version, but, this is a emergency sollution...

Sorry! I not use the Ubuntu...

Please, consult a Ubuntu support forum, for installing the KDE "development" packages!

Supplementary, the OpenSuSE's hwinfo is required... But, I seem this port on Ubuntu...

You need the X-devel packages.

sudo aptitude install xorg-dev xserver-xorg-dev

There is just another error:
checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2 and < 4.0) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log.

Which package should I install?
