Looks like the feature in Mac OS X.

But I don't understand what the sence is. Why do you want a link to the libaries? To install libraries with drag in drop?

It would be easier because:
1. The home folder would be much more cleaner.
2. Drag and Drop
3. You would find stuff easier.

exposing these things to be more easily accessible (drag-n-drop, for example) would be nice.

It can be done by the maintainers of a distro but that would be more like a hack. Why not doing it right in the first place?

because you don't know the distris folder structure ;)

just kidding,
i like the idea very much, kde should make distris to accept kdes own guidelines, so that it its own user workflow, even if the based distribution is different.

hacking arround KDE to change all paths? You have 10 other Linux users complaining they did that. I'd rather love to see KDE adopting this folder style, so it's the default for all distributions.

Now you'll have to dig into $kdedir/share/.. to find icons, wallpapers and such. If these were available from a _clean_ central location, that would be really great!!
