I downloaded the package and installed it but, for some unknown reason, the metacity theme is listed in Control Center > Theme > Theme Details > Window Border, but it doesn't show. I still have my old Metacity theme showing. Weirdness.

try to do:
cp -r /usr/share/themes/nimbus /opt/gnome/share/themes/

or copy from:
~/pkg/usr/share/themes/nimbus to /opt/gnome/share/themes/
