Submitted:  Feb 15 2007

Description:

this idea is about giving surfers more direct control how they browse the web

its about a bar of icons (i think the statusbar would be a good place for it..) that can configure things like java-script, cookies, style-sheets, referrers and ad-blockers simply and dynamically

there are icons for each feature (js, etc.) who have menus for
* custom script/css/cookie/browser-id
* disable/allow js/cookies/referrers/adblocker for this domain/subdomain/path ..
* use default (remove custom settings)

i think most poeple would like to configure what buttons and menu-items they would like to have
i would simply take them all ;)

the screenshot shows my firefox with some extensions that act similar to my idea
you could try how they are, and how useful it would be
* NoScript
* Cookie Button in Status Bar
* Adblock Plus
* GreaseMonkey
* Stylish
in my idea, the button for script-blocker and custom script would be the same

btw: this is my first post in here.. cool! B)

 Use the statusbar!

The statusbar itself should be used more. People think which buttons should be used in the normal bars (navigation, bookmark, menu). But there is so much space in the status bar. It would be nice if the status bar could be treated as the others bar, that is the possibilty to customize it should be there! If you today edit the * bars in some kde app, you can't setup the status bar.

Some apps make use of the status bar, like konqueror showing the status of loading a site...but there is so much space left...

well, i also think so

i have said this idea in freenode.net#kde before and the goys there said "the statusbar is only for showing the status"
hmm.. feeds are also not really status stuff, hmm..

maybe the icons can also be used to represent the actual usage of js, css or whaterver..

btw: thank you for you positive votes

This is not quite correct. There exists an api for statusbar extensions, it just has to be used.
