Description:

A script for automatically installing SMART, its dependencies, and related KDE components on a Suse Linux system. Basically is goes through the steps outlined in http://susewiki.org/index.php?title=Smart with a specific bent towards a KDE desktop. Detects the Suse version you are running (>= 10.0), the platform you are running (x86 and x64 supported) and configures accordingly.

Changelog:

--Version 0.2: Based on Loki's comments I have added version support and error checking. Thanks to Pascal Bleser and his great script for some idea's and code. It hasn't been tested on all versions, if you have a problem... PLEASE let me know.

--Version 0.1 will give you:
A working SMART setup, the default susewiki package repositories, a KDE service menu for any RPM packages, a KDE system tray applet (ksmarttray) to monitor for package updates, and a working SMART GUI for installing new applications.

No error handling, no nothing.

I'd rather recommend to use this script instead:

SUSE Linux RPMs for the masses: http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/

On that script, I like the error handling, and the support for mutliple Suse versions.

I like the KDE specific functionality on mine better. And colored output is nice ;-) OK, OK, so I need to work on it a little. I will do better with version 0.2. Thanks for the input.

 Disable the defaults

It would be great if your script could also disable the default updater icons.
Ie. SUSE Updater and/or the ZMD Updater.

Thanks for the input. I will see what I can do. Honestly I REALLY hate zmd and disabling it is one of the first things I do...
