Description:

BooKreader is a Linux KDE twin-panel text files reader/viewer specialized in reading e-books.
It supports multiple bookmarks, custom fonts, encoding selection.

The main feature is the reader has two-page style, so it looks like a real book.

Changelog:

Version 0.2
There are mostly performance improvements.
* Rendering speed is now more that 5 times higher.
* Fullscreen mode finally works well.

New version 0.1.1.
Background image resizing bug fixed. Thanks to Alexander Bodnarashik.

 Outstanding

Excellent work. I hope you can expand this to read other things like pdfs and more. I know some of the other readers have similar capabilities for dual pane but it doesn't mean you can't go for it yourself. Well done.

Thanks. Have an idea to create interface for reader-plugins. So you can write plugins that load different file types (i.e. pdf, odt, html etc).
Could you please give me links to other readers support dual panels and can correctly justify paragraphs? Maybe I missed something?

Very interesting software. Have you planned to add other languages support? I can help with italian translation.
Best regards

Thank you for your proposal. Sure I'm planning to support multiple languages. But now there too few strings for translation that differ from standard KDE's, like 'File', 'Preferences' in main menu. I haven't tested but seems they should be auto-translated according to your current KDE Language settings.
I'll let you know when I decide to start its translation and I'll be very appreciative for your help.

and ALLELUIA !! for the death of ALL screen and nerves eating scrollbars (really paged internet "pages", paged spreadsheets...)

a bit less utopic: buttons "page 1", "last page", "+- 5", "+- 10", "summary"(if exists in the document), and a "one page per screen" mode would be nice

it's a beginning, the fight must go on!

 Please rename

Please rename this project since a project with the same name is already existing: http://unix.freshmeat.net/projects/bookreader/

I wanted to make klik://bookreader but couldn't do so since it would collide with the other project.

Regards,
probono

Thanx !

You can still use the openSUSE source packages. Just search for bookreader-0.1

Great application by the way, one of my all time favorites, too bad it's so hard to find.

Thanks!
Unfortunately I have not much time to develop it. Anyway I'll move Bookreader to kbookreader.org soon. I'll inform you all here when it finally happens.
