 Works with Gaim 2.0

The only thing you might want to fix is where the log is created. I had to edit the script to create it in my home directory and not yours :-)

Hi! Great plugin but I had to add unicode support cause I'm a spanish native speaker and had problems with that. I attach the unified diff if you're interested.

 removing expletives

 by ameketa on: Nov 10 2006

Score 50%

I love this Amarok script. The only change I made, which other people might find useful, was to add an expletive filter. My collection has song and/or artist names with expletives, and I use IM at work.

I modified ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts/AmarokGaim/AmarokGaim.py

and inserted the following lines in the update_status function, right above the call to self.gaim.GameSavedstatusSetMessage:

# Get rid of questionable song titles / band names
p = re.compile( '(badword1|badword2|badword3|badword4)', re.IGNORECASE )
message = p.sub('****', message)

Perhaps this could be built into future versions, with a configuration option for a comma-separated list of words to remove?

I'll add this in. Thanks for the idea and patch. I'll make the list configurable.

I am wondering whether too include a list with it? Maybe I should make the list a separate download? Because at the moment I am thinking of making the word list as part of the config file. Don't know how many people want too see loads of swear words thrown at them everytime they edit the config file.

Personally, I would leave it up to the end user; different people will have different opinions about what should be excluded. Not having a default set of expletives is okay, in my opinion.

Thanks again for the script!

 does not work for me

 by BooVeMan on: Nov 13 2006

Score 50%

Sorry to say but with me this script isn't working. I'm on kubuntu 6.06 + amarok 1.4.3 + gaim 2.0.0beta3 and neiter is there any output in gaim nor am I able to open the configuration dialog in Amarok nor is there an AmarokGaim.ini.
Hints? Where can I enable debugging output - as I already enables logging in AmarokGaim an the file gets created but stays empty. Any debugging possible in amarok?
regards,
Burkhard

I have had one person report too me that it didn't work for them on gaim-2.0.0beta3.
I need too do some testing, but the dbus bindings where probably improved/changed between beta3 and beta4.
btw, This person was using kubuntu edgy, upgraded his gaim, and all problems went away.

Hi,
thanks for the reply - so I'd suggest I first try to upgrade gaim and report back - as we are deeling with beta versions real bug-fixing should start when gaim 2.0.0 final is relased.
Regards,
Burkhard

Hi,
just to confirm - upgrading gaim to beta5 will fix the problem - seems to be a limitation within beta3/3.1
