Description:

This one introduces nothing really new in terms of ideas... I was just having fun in photoshop and I came up with this. I took kopete as an example to demonstrate my ideas on eye candy in kde 4. What are your thoughts?

I'd like to put emphasis on window style... how do you find it? Would it fit well in kde 4?

Thank you very much.

 Nice

Very nice! But i think, that the search box is a bit too small, and the menu font is also a bit too small, perhaps hide the menu totaly? under some button or smth?
Anyway, also, the window titlebar font is too big :)

And the icons don't fit, perhaps a bit more rounder and sleeker icons, like in Sparkling icon-set?

But all in all, this would look very very cool in KDE4! i Specialy like the right-click menu with an arrow pointing to the location where i clicked. :)

Thanks... I didn't put much time on icons because we don't know what KDE4 icons will look like yet...

You have a talent for aesthetics. I agree with the previous poster about the popup menu. I really like the concept of the visual feedback for where you click as well as the popup menu being centered vertically with respect to the click location. My only criticism is that your works could use a little more contrast.

Thanks... I kept the constrast relatively low because I wanted it to be pleasant and not too agressive to the eye, but such things could be configured with Color Schemes! ;)

 nice, but practical?

On window style... it's nice enough, but not very practical. Also, a few things that annoy me about current window styles: the title bar buttons should reach the top edge of the screen, and the corners (for corner buttons like close/menu) so that they can be quickly navigated to by "throwing" the mouse into the corner/edge of the screen. Secondly, when windows are maximised, the side frames should disappear completely, since they no longer need to be resized, and the frame is a distracting waste of space. When restored (non-maximised), window frames should be just big enough to select with a low-res accelerated mouse, without having to slow down and "pin-point" the edge by small adjustments back and forth.

Yeah I agree... when maximized, the window border should completely disapear and the "close" button would be directly on the edge of the screen...

Thanks for the feedback!

Very nice and clean.
It's exactly these kinds of things we need to make KDE look good. Let's beat them gnomes in style. ;)
