Does your app record the sound, too?

Nice application!

I have two small request though.

Once you save the video ScreenKast asks to save the project first. Is that necessary? Maybe you could create a temporary file?

Could you add the vncserver as a dependency to the Ubuntu packages?

For now, this is mandatory, but it'll be fixed in the next release. So will the vncserver (or tightvncserver?) dependency, thanks for the tip.

 VNC Problem?

 by samuk on: Sep 24 2006

Hi I installed onto my Mepis system using this:
apt-get install libxml++2.6c2a libdc1394-13-dev vncserver

http://instrudeo.bpower2.com/packages/Ubuntu/dapper/libinstrudeo0_0.1.3-0ubuntu1_i386.deb
http://instrudeo.bpower2.com/packages/Ubuntu/dapper/screenkast_0.1.3-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

When i try to launch screenkast as a user it gives;
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
screenkast: cannot connect to X server :0.0

As root the program runs but i get a blue screen..

Could this be related to the fact that i use gdm instead of kdm on a kde desktop?

I think you don't have a vnc-server running. The How-to-install captorial, here: http://captorials.com/index.php?cmd=software
should help you along.

If not, just reply and I'll walk you through.

According to the error message that's returned to you, it seems like the local VNC server isn't running. ScreenKast offers you the possibility to start up a server, but if you do this for the first time, you'll have to enter a password (so not everyone is able to connect to it).

You can use the "vncpasswd" command to set a password for you local VNC server. Just run vncpasswd in a terminal and enter your password (twice). From then, on, you should be able to start/stop the server from within ScreenKast.

If you want this explanation in a graphical way, please see the software section at captorials.com. If you encounter another error, don't hesitate to reply or contact me personally.

 cant install

Hi,
i cannot install on Debian SID with your package because there is a dependency of libxml++2.6-1c2a in the INFO File but this is not in the unstable Repository.

Can you change this or is thre an misunderstanding by me?

Thanks for advice.
rha

Gosh, you're right, forgot to re-package screenkast too. libinstrudeo-dev was already fixed though.
Should finally work now.
