Description:

"KDE Spectra" is my idea of how the next generation KDE should look like.
I think with the advent of Phonon platform (the new KDE multimedia), KDE should have a powerful multimedia player, with cool graphics and should be like a file-browser. It will allow to easily browse the files in the player itself instead of a using a dialog box.
I hope you like the design.

i agree with idea of having built-in player in konqueror, because if you need to launch one song, it usually breaks your playlist... but as i wrote in previous your suggest, i think it is too big...

i think, that somewhere at the side would be some 3-4 buttons for playing and nothing more....

You can use metabar. IIRC it has a small player integrated.

You are not proposing new functionality, instead you propose an original style of layout or presentaion for Amarok.

Respectfully and ideally this sort of thing should be done with skinning... remember how Real Player could be skinned into all sorts of unbelievable shapes and sizes? Another eg. is Quintessential.

And it should be easy enough with a plugin-architecture that lots of people can home-brew their own.

It is a little weakness in Amarok that skinning only afects the context bar, not the entire player

The style looks nice but I really don't like everything being so big, specially the songs. Besides there's no clear way to search songs, that is a big minus.

Besides I think there's little point in making yet another KDE music player while amaroK is improving with giant leaps.

its not THAT bad, but i think it's not very good either. but basically, it could work, yes. i'd say redo this one without transparancy and stuff, makes it look too much like windows Vista (and ppl just don't like that).

Looks to me like a windows mediaplayer in vista.
Sorry I had to say it.
