Description:

Icon set for KDE 3.0 and KDE 3.1
Complete iconset with around 600 original icons. It can be used as individual icons for X desktops, or as a complete iconset for KDE 3.0-3.1 or above (new KDE features will not be iconized at this moment).
Please, read the 'readme' text file for more info.
This iconset is under LGPL. Read the 'lesser.txt' text file about the license.
Enjoy it!
Many thanks to es.kde.org to host the icons; muchas gracias people :D
Carlitus

Changelog:

1.00
Finally available as a direct download.
-Added icons for these daily use apps: Kget, Kmail, Ark, K3b
-An important change: now it's under LGPL; previously was under GPL, and changed because the LPGL it's more permissive (requested by some KDE dev, and suggested by some Gnome users too).

This iconset was stored in a external server. At this date, that server don't allow external links to their files, so this iconset can't be downloaded! I can pay for a extensive-downloaded file like this iconset, so i will appreciate any help (a server to store my files freely -or not-). Thanks for the support.

Only fixed a broken download link

0.95
-Added the 128x128 size. Not all icons are in this size.
-Added KDE 3.1 icons, such tab icons, kget, messagebox, ...
-Added the throbber.
-Fixed important icons, previously released but missing on last update (such filesave, www)
-Small fixes.
-The Readme text file is more complete. Now have howto's, links to other Noia icons/skins and the complete iconlist.

0.90
Refining and polishing of lots of icons, specially for actions and apps.
Now the Noia icons for KDE is under GPL license.

0.50
Added 142 new icons.
No more icons will be added (except if there's any important KDE missing icon).
Other icons will be released apart.
The next release will be the Release Candidate, and it will contain some icons redesigned and the small icons fixed.
Now it's time to say wich are the bad designed icons. Send me a e-mail or post a comment.
Thanks

Can you have 3 separate downloads?

BASE download would have all essential Kicons, and a second version, FUll download would include all sizes, supplementary icons like Pheonix, Mozilla, GIMP, and so on.

The final would be named the SOURCE download and it would include the full set except in the Ulead Photo Impact format.

(BTW, any reason you use Ulead over Photoshop 7?)

That would be a great idea. Have one big package for those of us who have fast broadband access to be able to download the whole complete set and another set of packages that allows people to download what they need ! Great idea !

 Photoimpact

This is not the first icon set i released (the others are made for windows).
When i wish to make new icons, i search for a 'look' and try any graphic programs as possible.
For the Noia icons, i choosed initially the 'look' and searched a program capable to do the designs.
The Noia designs are very hard to do with usual bitmap editors.
Photoimpact have vector objects with 3d properties (not exactly, they are 2,5D), with 3d shading, transparencies and reflections, just like a 3d program, but using 2d vectors. Make the plastic, transparencies with reflections are very easy with Photoimpact (like to apply a gradient to a vector polygon).
I create the forms and polygons then i applied the 3d shadings, thanks to them the workflow are very high.
Unfortunatelly, i can export to vector data, specially when i wish to maintain the shading effects, so the Noia icons are in raster format.
Photoimpact is a good program for the effects, but is not a good bitmap editor

 good suggestions

hi WinterWolf.

You are anticipated to my intentions.
This iconset (the Noia for KDE) will be the 'normal' edition, and i will updload a enhanced version.

At this moment, i decided to make 2 prinicipal releases:
-This icon set, as the 'main' jost covering the KDE essential icons, with icons for 'K' apps, no higher than 64x64 sizes
-The 'enhanced icon set' or '12' icon set with 128x128 icons. At this moment, i don't know if distribute only the 128 icons with a 'inherits' to the Noia main or release a entire release with all sizes. My first release (before the first upload at kde-look) have 20 mb!
-Other icons with Noia style, for applications, and suggestions. I received a lot of messages requesting icons for applications, and they will be released a part of 'essential' icon set.

I wish to organize a little the suggestions, and the 'releases plan'. I don't know how... maybe a thread on the Discussion section. If you (all of you) wish to post your comments here, i agree.

Thanks for the suggestions

 Awesome, except...

These icons have the potential of being the best looking icons available for KDE if it weren't for one thing...those drive icons. They're just too plain and blue. All the icons that have more color look unbelievable. However, just about every icon for disks are just plain and just about the same shade of blue. If you'd throw a dash more of color in there to liven them up, they'd rule KDE!

 index.desktop errors

Hi. Great icon set. Keep up the good work.

One problem though:

You still have some of the Size= lines in index.desktop set to 128. I changed these after I downloaded and it works nicely, but not everyone will know how to do this.

Other than that minor problem, I'm loving these new icons. Make more! :)
