Description:

this is not from me, but a cool idea from Gentlemen for gnome. check the mockups. basically he proposes to integrate the menu in the iconbar.

i\'m not sure if it\'ll always work, with big menu- and iconbar\'s it won\'t, but as KDE4 should be cleaner in this regard, and many screens sold today are widescreen, it might work better...

link to the original (download and homepage link to this as well ;-))

i like the kicker. I think in kde4 it should definitely be skinnable and "shapeable".

 Widgets

In KDE4 the kicker and all the panels are widgets (or widget like) so basically any graphic that you can create, combined with a little JavaScript (ECMA) can ultimately turn into an application. That's the beaty of widgets, when implemented properly, they don't have to be memory munchers that just sit and look pretty. They can actually serve a purpose.

Nice mockups, the Gnome camp should really consider this. Does anyone have any info on the future Gnome Desktop that will compete with the likes of Vista and KDE 4?

I think they will remove even more functionality from Gnome ;-)

It looks great, I think having a theme like this will help KDE to compete with OS X and Vista. I hope people working on KDE get the OpenGl rendering working on KD 4.0 so we can see really cool and nice looking effects.

Love the Menuthing, where the menu is aligned right and inside a little space.. it's goood looking and also smart, since it's better space utilisation, because toolbars are usualy to the left there!

also, the theme and the anti-aliased widgets was great!

 Still Love It!

I still love this thing, I just felt I needed to comment that stuff needs to get more rounded in the new themes, rounded edges, and not just faked, but anti-aliased, most preferably SVG'd...
