Description:

What about wallpaper selector with thumbs like in gnome? It's more easy to select image from thumbs, isn't it?

I don't see the interest. There is already a preview in the file selector.

Besides, I don't like to have to add/remove wallpapers from the list.

yerr, right, sux like hell imo :|

I have a lot of positions for wallpapers, and adding/removing them (or the pics) would drive me crazy.

and since the file choose dialog supports previews it isn't needed at all

using such a inflexible solution although the current one also offers such a 'just look at the pic, coz you're too lazy to read' feature would be just nonsense in my opinion, and well, a file choose dialog with preview is even more functional

I agree with ch4no1r. Pretty nice work but the current GUI is more than adequete.

I don't like the current Wall-Paper selecotr that is offered by kde. A userfriendly new Selector like the above would make the task much more intuitive.

Both enlightenment and Gnome offer better alternatives. Btw, implementing such a selector really isn't much work, so it would not hurt to write such a selector and then ask people which one they prefer and based on the result, choose which one to go with.

i agree with you. seeing previews, and not having to open a 'file open' dialogue would be much better.

When presented with the file dialog when choosing a wallpaper:

Right Click in the file-list -> View -> Thumbnail Previews

Granted, it would be *nice* if there was a button or widget that did this.

What I'd like to see in KDE4 in regards to wallpaper: composite selections. I mean, selecting more than one wallpaper and blending them in various ways 'on the fly'. *That* would be nifty.

I'm not sure if much thought needs to go into this feature, since opening konqueror and going into your pictures folder right click->actions->set as background is just so simple. And that gnome mock up takes browsing for the images, and adding them to that list (which i always wondered if it cached them somewhere else like .thumbails or something taking more space from the system?) just extra steps than what kde has now. My thoughts.
