Description:

Here is the Kubuntu logo that I made for myself using Maya + Photoshop. I plan on also adding a few other designs and will include some with kubuntu text added as well. You can also check my web site for updates at http://rmorg.org/random/ubuntuLogo/.

Changelog:

2.0 -- I made the new wallpapers with much higher res models. Hope it looks better than the last version.

2.1 -- As requested I created a 1920x1200 Version. In the process of creating that I could still detect some polys around the edges so I re-modeled the inner parts again with even more polys.

Great 3D rendering, especially the light.

Though, you should increase the number of polygons on your model.
We clearly notice bad-looking edges on the logo. :-(

In the second of your two pics lt looks like your command line is running right on your desktop. It looks really cool! How do I do this?

Thanks

I do have the command line running directly on the desktop. :) You need to be using Eterm and devilspie to make it entirely transparent. You can check this link out here for more info on how to do this: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=36811&highlight=transparent+eterm

The HOWTO is for ubuntu, i mean it is for GNOME. what changes you made to adapt it to KDE desktop.

You can get this (nearly) with konsole also. Disable window decoration for the konsole window and set it to be on back always (done in the windowmanager settings).

Then in the konsole settings set background theme to transparent, disable scrollbars, and disable the border (the later is done in the konsole settings, first tab page). Voila.

 New Models

I decided to do more renders with higher res models as suggested. I hope everyone likes the new update. I tried to keep the style 1 render as much like the original style as possible. Let me know what everyone thinks. Comments are always appriciated. =)
