Description:

Based on the "Pixel Girl" GDM theme and the "Blue Turbulence" wallpaper. The wallpaper itself was apparently generated using 'fyre':

http://fyre.navi.cx/

Thanks! Somehow the "Pixel Girl" theme had it smeared around the login box ..

did he thank you at least? too many kiddos are ripping artwork these days without any respect or appreciation. good they rarely enter museums, they might get on the idea of taking the paintings home to overpaint them

Can you make the same for 1024*768 resolution ? It would be a good idea, since not everyone use high resolutions like 1280 and above....

Glad that you like it. Could you please tell me the issues with 1024x768? I am aware of the fact that the pam_error gets smeared over the login box -- that's easily fixed by reducing the font size .. but is there anything else?

Version 0.3 of the theme should now be usable with lower resolutions.

Thanks for keeping up the good work !!

There still are differences between 1280 and 1024 versions. The Gnome-foot logo is still closer to the border of the screen in the 1024 version.
Can you make it so that it would have the same offset as in the 1280 (move the entire "login banner" to the right) ?

And thanks again for reading recommandations :-)

Oh, and the word "Mot de passe" (when you type a password in) doesn't fit in its dedicated space....

At the moment, it is not possible to get an exact replica of the 1280 layout on a 1024 layout since the image sizes are fixed. So, although the screen gets smaller, the "gnome-foot" stays at the same size; and since everything is anchored to the center and offset by a fixed number of pixels, the effect of reducing the screen size is that some things tend to be left out. Same thing goes for the "Mot de passe" .. the login box was meant to accomodate "Password" so the other languages (depends on how long) would tend to spill over the designated area.. Again, the solution might be to just tweak the *.xml file and change the font size yourself ...

The way out is probably to design a completely new package for the lower resolutions. Right now I don't have the time so you might have to wait a little longer(unless someone has an idea on how to make the existing package scale over all resolutions ..)

 Spanish problem

In Spanish, the word Contraseña: (Password:) gets partially hidden behind the text-box, would it be possible to move the text-box slightly to the right? I only can see Contrase.
On the other hand, good job, I like it very much.

It's really difficult to accomodate for every single language/resolution, so I'll just tell you what to do to fix it to your own taste:

As root, open the file /usr/share/gdm/themes/BlueSwirl/blueswirl.xml for editing. Then change line 105 from:

<pos anchor="w" y="50%"/>

to:

<pos anchor="w" x="-30%" y="50%"/>

Of course you'll have to check whether the -30% is too much or still too little. You can adjust that value till you find one that works.

Glad that you like it.
