I fear this will not as easy as it seems ;/
It's not just porting it with different compiler flags, I guess there are a lot of libs needed and missed on windows... (prove me wrong..)

nice nice nice work! It took me to build it like ./configure --prefix="/usr/" but than it showed up and worked like a charm (on kubuntu edgy)

I prepared an ebuild for Gentoo users.

If you do not already have a Portage overlay, create one, e.g. by creating a directory /usr/local/portage, and adding

PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage"

to your /etc/make.conf. Then download

http://codav.de/kram/misc/kcometen3-1.1-gentoo-ebuild.tar.bz2

and unpack the archive in your overlay directory. Now just emerge kde-misc/kcometen3, and select it in the OpenGL category of your screensaver list in the KDE control center..

is there any particular reason your package is masked for x86? i'd like to get this one on amd64 but i'm not sure how to unmask?

I cleaned the ebuild up a little bit and added it to the Xeffects overlay - I'm sure you've heard of it. Hope you don't mind.

P.S. The screensaver doesn't seem to do anything for me?
