 After compiling, can't find plugins

by steveriley on: Jul 28 2013

Score 50%

Kubuntu 13.04
KDE 4.10.5
all dependencies installed

SoundKonverter starts, but is unable to locate any plugins. Help -> About Plugins is blank. Settings -> Configure -> Backends shows nothing is installed. However, I know they're installed, dpkg tells me so. I don't think I missed anything in the steps for building. Any tips on what to do?

No difference. I think I may have tried that before, actually, but can't remember now.

I've captured the output of strace soundkonverter in case that might be useful. Here: http://paste.kde.org/p548e07df/

You installed soundkonverter into /usr/local. Maybe some environment variables aren't set properly. Off the top of my head I can only think of KDEDIR (and KDEDIRS) which should be set to the install prefix because soundkonverter provides it's own plugins and plugintypes.

At least for testing you could install soundkonverter into /usr (or whatever your default kde prefix is), you can completely remove all installed files by running "make uninstall" (see https://github.com/HessiJames/soundkonverter/wiki/Installing%20soundKonverter#un-installating-soundkonverter).

Yeah, that fixed it. I changed the cmake install prefix to /usr. I have other compiled applications in /usr/local (audex, kaudiocreator, kid3) that seem to find the needed libraries even though those libraries are in their normal places. I'm a little stumped as to why soundkonverter can't find them when it isn't in /usr.

 define cdparanoia parameters

It would be very nice to be able to define parameters of cdparanoia like "-Y" or "-Z". It is so terrible slow for me.

With version 2.0.91 you can configure the cdparanoia plugin and disable paranoia.

Looks like taglib 1.9.1 may be causing issues during compilation

Thanks for a great app.

Works fine for me with taglib 1.9.1 on opensuse 12.3.
Have you tried removing the build directory and compiling again?

Thanks for getting back to me.

version 2.0.4 compiles OK in Fedora 19 but not in RHEL6/CentOS6 with taglib 1.9.1.

Any chance this is due to an older gcc version?

That could be. But it seems that this problem lies withing taglib and not soundkonverter. So I don't see what I could do.

 Album Artist tag request

 by google01103 on: Jan 14 2014

could you add the Album Artist tag when ripping cds? The tag is important when using Amarok

Also, when fetching data it would be nice to fetch the cover

Have a look at Version 2.0.91 for album artist support in the CD ripper.

 Misssing if-statement

by debaba on: May 11 2014

Score 50%

Hi, nice stuff you developed, thanks.
I'm missing one thing: a possibility to evaluate metadata-fields and then insert according to this evaluation like:

[%z!=%a?%z - : ]

to insert '%z - ' only if %z differs from %a else insert ' '

Thanks for your precious time

I'll keep it in mind but I don't have much time at the moment. If you want to make sure that I won't forget it, you should file a feature request at https://github.com/HessiJames/soundkonverter/issues
