Description:

nuoveXT is an icon theme for GNOME and KDE.

This is my first attempt of creating an icon theme. There is still a lots to do, but I thought I could share what I've done so far. Made entirely with Inkscape.

A big THANKS to:

- Inkscape: what a great tool! :D
- Ubuntu, Linux and Open Source in general
- All the other GNOME and KDE artists who have inspired me and specially everaldo (http://www.everaldo.com/) which is, I think, simply the best icon designer out there ;-)
- Open Clip Art Library (http://openclipart.org/).
- DeviantArt: One of the best place for inspiration and artworks.
- pwsp.net for hosting my project.

Constructive feedbacks are more than welcome ;-)

Enjoy!

Saki

 Amarok!

by burner on: Aug 7 2005

I love the new amarok icon. It looks a lot like my icon, but crystalized.

I have a little request for the thunderbird icon though. Could you make it similar to the firefox one you have but with the thunderbird?

If you like the generic mail icon, maybe you could fix the little red outline that is present on the bottom 3 sides.

It's in fact based on your icon ;-)
There is now a thunderbird icon similar to the firefox one in version 1.4

Enjoy!

Thanks for the quick update! I like the thunderbird icon, but I notice a red outline around the bottom 3 sides of the envelope again which looks a little out of place.

In terms of aesthetics, I have one further request. Could you add a little more orange + blue color to firefox/tbird. It looks funny that a lot of my panel apps are devoid of color and then there's amarok. It looks as though it's featured.

If you have the source .svgs, could you post those in a seperate download as well? I'd really like to check them out and make quickie changes like the red outline.

Thanks

There's a shot. It's not a solid red line, it's like a dashed red and blue line.

As a side note, thanks for being so responsive again :)

 trash icon

I thought the old trash Icon rocked (maybe a little Less transparent).

The good thing was that when trash was empty it was very unnoticable on the desktop which I thought was a great idea. Afterall you would only mess with the trash icon when there is something inside.

I have to admit the main benefit of this new icon is for ubuntu and people who use the trash applet in gnome-panel. The new icon is much more visible on light colored gnome panel

I put the old trash icon in the extras folder, so you can still use it if you want to ;-)

Speaking of old favroites...I really liked the old Nav buttons...I understand that some people complained that up and forward (or whatever it was) were too similar, but I really liked them and thought they had a more original look. Any chance they might make a comeback?

 root icons

I used sudo gnome-theme-manager to update my root apps (like Synaptec) to version 1.4 and now it's not using any of the nuoveXT icons, just the stock system icons...anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks,

Jake
