 Bugs are crawling:)

1) When clicking on the 'Sample track' of song editor (left mouse button only) application segfaults 2) Program always says: > No audio-driver working - falling back to dummy-audio-driver > You can render your songs and listen to the output files... > Couldn't create MIDI-client, neither with ALSA nor with OSS. Will use dummy-MIDI-client. but when I choose OSS all works (i don't know with MIDI bacause i haven't any MIDI) 3) Oh, all cyrillic characters in the project (notes, track names etc) after saving and reloading becomes '?'... 4) Sound now (since 21-22 Dec) appears only after pressing 'High quality mode' button. If I click on it twice, sound is presented, too. 5) Program segfaults if I drag anything from the "Instruments" tab when mouse leaves this tab

this thing is getting better and better!

Can you change the default ogg sample files? Some of them are horrible.
You should add more piano samples, even some midi piano sounds are better than the ones i have here.

Does anybody know where can i download more ogg samples for this app?

...and May the source be with you.. @655

 Problems

by dovidhalevi on: Dec 22 2005

Latest and greatest compiles fine, looks really cool (though I could live without Santa Clause, humbug and all that).

Tried the Bach with ALSA. Got it to play after a bit.

Tried with Jack. Program could not do MIDI and Bach did not play--position cursor did not move.

Tried with SDL. Segmentation fault. Now the problem is I cannot get the app up again to go back to ALSA. Segfaults on startup.

How can I fix this (could not find any config or lmmsrc file)?

A good idea might be a separate setup app, run on first startup or install and available for cases like this!

 Very nice

Looks very professional indeed. However one thing worries me, themeing. Does this obey the KDE defuault colour schemes and what not, or is it constantly the grey colour?
It does look nice like that but i worry about usability and not being able to change the colour scheme/theme?

If it's a branding issue, i think teh fact it's a KDE app using kde icons in this field is more than enough.

Also how stable is it, because at the moment rosegarden is far too unstable for everyday use. Is this superior to rosegarden in that respect?

Thanks

LMMS is NOT a KDE-app, it uses Qt. Futhermore it uses it's own colors for looking more studio-like ;-) the color-mgm-thing is located at one place in one source-file, so you could easily change them if you don't like it...

as already said, it's not a KDE-app and it uses it's own icons. You can replace all the icons/artwork-things in resources-dir in source-tree and thus making new themes...

Also how stable is it, because at the moment rosegarden is far too unstable for everyday use. Is this superior to rosegarden in that respect?
not really I think ;-) JACK-output seems to be buggy in this version and therefore causes segfaults... If it once runs it's ok, but especially when monkeying around with the song while playing it, there're sometimes some crashes... but they got less since last release I'm sur and stability will have highest priority for 0.1.3...

I realised after doing some more digging that it isn't a KDE app, shame really, would like to see this taking advantage of KDE's dialogs and what not.

Is there an aim to port this to OSX & Windows? If not has moving to be a KDE app been considered?

Also on the colour scheme front, seems like not the best option. Although it does look very nice, it would begin to annoy me after a while, not having it intergrated as well into the rest of my environment. This is the type of app id use for hours on end and it's colour scheme is pretty important. I just don't feel that we need more audio apps copying teh big names and theming it to look like a real studio is the way to go, because a computer isn't the same as a mixing desk & various rack mount stuff. But i'm sure the team will look towards innovation once a stable, feature rich state is released.

The VST intergration looks very nice also, rather impressive.

None the less, this is looking very interesting. I may give it a whirl if any Arch Linux packages pop up.

Thanks for the reply and broadening the choice of audio apps on Linux.

Lou
