Description:

Sorry, there is no change yet to the theme, this is just an update of Dan's email address. Since there is almost no new stuff showing up on KDE-Look due to the recent traffic troubles I hope nobody is bothered when this shows up again on the front page. We are currently working on 0.5.0 so stay tuned. :-)

---

The AquaFusion team proudly presents the Fourth Edition of the "Aqua Fusion" Icon Theme! This extensive and elaborate package continues to grow, and now contains 724 created-from-scratch icons in the "Aqua" style for devices, filesystems, mimetypes, actions and applications. All standard sizes from 16x16 up to 64x64 are included.

The entire device section has been reworked and many colorful new folders were added. Moreover various newly created icons found their way into the new package.

Please read the Changelog for all news.

This fusion between "Aqua" and Linux has been made possible through an ongoing collaboration between Daniel Flax (design & artwork) and Markus Mueller (adaptation & preparation). We are proud of what we have been able to achieve over the last several months, especially considering that fact that we are both located on different continents. We hope you will enjoy these icons as much as we do.

Over the next several months, our plan is to continue refining and expanding this theme based on your feedback and testing.

In order to give us some valuable direction in the proper development of this body of work, we would love to hear your opinion about the "Aqua Fusion" design.

 Wont Install

I'm trying to install this icon set in KDE 3.0.3, but when I untar the files, and go to KDE Control Center/Look&Feel/icons, select the theme file, and then hit "install new theme" it doesn't show up on the list. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

You must not unpack the tar file. Select the zipped package with KControl. You may click the [How to install] link next to the [Download] button for detailed instructions.

 figured it out

I'd figured it out just before you posted your msg. I manually copied all the extracted AquaFusion icon folders to /usr/share/icons, and then launched KDE Control Center, and lo and behold, the icon set was sitting right there for me to select. Thanks for the prompt reply tho =)

 Alternative Install

Of course you *can* do it this way, but you may run into a lot of trouble.

First, you have to be root to install this systemwide. As an ordinary user copy it to ~/.kde/share/icons instead.
Second, you may have difficulties deinstalling it properly with KControl.

So better use KDE's default way to install icon themes. It's clean and easy, although alternatives do work, too.

 Adding other colors

Hi,

I really like the icons qua style. However an idea might be to group the icons in color sets (think keeping cdrom drives apart by color) and/or to add a little bit more different colors per icon, especially warm colors like yellow, orange and red. I'm only speaking for myself however and I want to say again that I use the aqua fusion icons at the moment with pleasure.

Sincerely, Erick

 128x128

Will you release a 128x128 icon set? Large icons are a must for hi-resolution users.

We could release 128x128 icons, but I doubt there are many people who would benefit from the almost doubled package size. But we are thinking about an option to let advanced users add 128x128 icons themselves after they have installed the main package.

(BTW, even with higher resolutions there should be no need to use 128x128. When I was working with 1600x1200 I still used 48x48 [!] icons. This could be a sign you are using a higher resolution than your monitor can handle gracefully ;-)

 Bigger is better!

Actually, I can run my screen at a resolution higher than 1600x1200. I've requested a 128x128 set because on a 21 inch monitor running at 1600x1600 and above, 68x68 icons aren't so bad, but you can go blind with 48, 32, or 16 variety. I know I'm not the typical user, but everyone that I know runs Linux at 1600x1600 and while the 128 icon set is large, it's beautiful and quite an eye catcher. Besides most other Icon sets package them. Don't get me wrong, I know they would more than double the size of the package, but as a seperate add on I'd bet they'd be pretty popular. Thanks for a great icon set.
