 install in Ubuntu

I'm just moving over from SuSE 9.3 and missed the SuSE Windeco. THIS one is better!! Not kidding. Looks great.

Thank you!

For those who don't know how to install the .deb package in Ubuntu, place the package in your home folder and in terminal, type:
sudo dpkg -i kwin-decor-suse2_0.2-1_i386_ubuntu.deb

Perhaps we could gather very basic install instructions for these packages and put them in one place, to make things easier for the newbies amongst us?

Again, thanks for the great Windeco. Really appreciate it. You made my day! :) :)

Rory

 White border?

Excellent window decoration! I'm wondering why there is a white, thin border around all of the windows. It's slightly annoying to see it, but other than that, I love it. Thanks!

Have you tried the SUSE colorscheme already?

 Failures

I just finished building (k)ubuntu deb's for 0.2.1 and 0.2.91.
Although, none of them work as they should.
In both the versions, the logo icon functions does nothing, except change the look in the preview. In the real titlebar it's always the debian logo with no offset
In 0.2.91 the button look setting is the same, it does nothing except for the preview... (Buttons are always the flat plastik same in the real title)

Should add I'm using KDE 3.4.2
Compiling it without making a .deb doesn't help.

Restarting KDE helped (I did it for another reson...)
Running kbuildsycoca should be enough.
The new (k)ubuntu-deb's have been mailed to geflei.

 Compiling on FreeBSD

I just switched to FreeBSD from SUSE Linux and I'd really like to have this theme on my KDE, has anyone gotten it to compile correctly on FreeBSD?

What problems did you have compiling it? If you have Qt 3.3 and KDE >=3.3 (and the devel-packages) installed I think it should work on FreeBSD too.

Cheers, Gerd

 Needs work

Better documentation would help greatly:

The "generic" instructions in the "INSTALL" file make no sense.

" By default, `make install' will install the package's files in
`/usr/local/bin', `/usr/local/man', etc. You can specify an
installation prefix other than `/usr/local' by giving `configure' the
option `--prefix=PATH'.
"

Well the previous version (available in .deb package form) installs files all over the place. How do I specify where the files should go?

Ok, I add some doc for installing in the next release.

But actually it should use the paths given by kde-config (e.g. /usr for debian or /opt/kde3 for SUSE). What distribution do you use?

What do you mean by "all over the place"?

If you want special paths you can specify them in configure (--help) like --libdir= or so.

Greetings, Gerd
