Description:

This program is a MIDI metronome with Qt interface and based on the ALSA sequencer. Intended for musicians and music students, it is a tool to keep the rhythm while playing musical instruments.

It uses MIDI for sound generation instead of digital audio, allowing low CPU usage, and very accurate timing thanks to the ALSA sequencer.

Features
* Easy to use graphic user interface.
* MIDI only. Can be used with software- or external MIDI synthesizers.
* Based on the ALSA sequencer. Provides input and output ports.
* Highly customizable parameters.
* Optional built-in connection manager, it can be used with
external connection managers.
* External transport control: play - stop - continue commands, can
be controlled using DBUS or MIDI Realtime System messages.
* Custom rhythm patterns.

Changelog:

Changes in 1.0.0 (2014-10-12)
* Migrated to Qt5, without KDE dependencies

 shortcuts

Some shortcuts would be nice.. especially for 'play' and 'stop' :)

It's a bit annoying to grab the mouse all the time. The most comfortable would be to trigger both of them with space only.. what do you think?

 dbus commands only related to current PID?

I just found out how to use the dbus commands for kmetronome. Alas the PID number is attached to the qdbus entry so it is not possible to use the dbus commands for autostarting kmetronome.

The goal here is to start kmetronome with autoplay. So I created the command "kmetronome && qdbus net.sourceforge.kmetronome-24638 /kmetronome/MainWindow_1 net.sourceforge.kmetronome.play" - but this only works with the current session because of the PID related dbus commands.

Is there a way to use dbus for kmetronome independent from the current session?

try this Bash script:

$ cat kmetronome-autoplay.sh
#!/bin/bash
kmetronome &
sleep 1s
SERVICE="net.sourceforge.kmetronome-$(pidof kmetronome)"
qdbus $SERVICE / play

Dude! I'm really glad you're still working on this application. It's really useful, I've been using it since the 4.x release of KDE days. Thank you so much for developing it and keep rockin'! Cheers from Colombia!
