Description:

This is the Clearlooks Metacity theme.

Changelog:

0.6 Update:
Added Clearlooks-Balloon (all rounded) and Clearlooks-Sharp (all squared).

0.6:
- Window icon is now fixed-size (no blurring).
- Slightly smoothed out the titlebar gradient.

0.5.2a:
- Fixed the tarball, so you can install via drag and drop again. Sorry about that!

0.5.2 (the "double-edged" release):
- Square bottom corners.
- Square utility windows.

0.5.1:
- Unfocused titlebars are less dark.
- Tweaked the prelighting.

0.5:
This is a major rework. If you liked the original Industrial-modification, you better make a backup of it. ;) The changes are:
- More advanced titlebar gradient, which looks softer and is also less bright, so it works well with bright themes like the new Ubuntu Human.
- New buttons which look quite a lot more like normal Clearlooks buttons.
- Unfocused windows do not look insensitive anymore.
- Utility windows have a smaller titlebar.
- The one-pixel padding below the titlebar is gone, this will look fine with the tweaked menubar in Clearlooks 0.5.
- Considerably better performance according to the Metacity benchmark tool.

First Release:
Differences to the last version included in Clearlooks 0.3 (Gtk engine) are a more rounded look for the buttons, slightly smaller icons and some minor fixes.

 You are my hero!

Very well done.

Oh, one more touch that would be nice, tough it is a temporary solution (until they fix the icon standart issue): Let's add the default stock icons that jimmac did for industrial. Right now, clearlooks uses the default stock icons from gtk, and man, they are ugly ;)

Look at the Industrial theme, or glider, that add the stock icons, put them in clearlooks and voilá: we have a winner! I've already did that to my version ;)

Other thing that would be nice: Jeff Waugh (ubuntu developer/maintainer) is looking for making clearlooks the default theme. Talk to him, and let's make ubuntu the most rocking and good looking distro in the world ;)

P.S.: Probably you don't use ubuntu, but it would be nice to see the work of your team being so widely recognized :)

Thank you all

Lucas

You are talking about the entire engine now, right? I'm just co-developing it, but I _am_ using Ubuntu. ;) Of course I'd be very happy if Jeff would decide to use it and we are basically very interested to work with distributors (and everyone else). In fact, we also want to propose Clearlooks for GNOME 2.12. I'd like to see GNOME looking great by default everywhere. :)

About the icons, I'll look into this. I was already wondering what those blue icons are and why they aren't used by default, I didn't realize that Glider uses them. It would be good to know some background information about this, but if there are no objections, then we should probably use them.

Yeah, it's pretty common now, as few like the default green. All my color schemes include something...anything but the green.

 Stock Icons

Hi dudes :)

About the stock icons issue that I was talking about, it's just a matter of putting an iconrc file inside the gtk-2.0 directory, the stock icons from industrial inside the same directory and append the iconrc file with the statement include. I'm sure that you have probably figured that out by yourselves (I'm just trying to help).

If you want, I can send you my modified theme version. Just tell me what do you prefer for that (IM, email, whatever).

Thank you all

 just to be annoying

Hi again

I was looking carefully to the metacity theme and I've noticed that we could remove some extra pixels from the maximixe window button, making it rounded like the winter theme.

I'm not sure if this would work, but we could make the close button red, like windows xp does, just for making easier to see it. We can also see if we can make the decoration "fitt's law compliant" :)

But it would be interesting to try... If you want some help, we're here ;)

"we could remove some extra pixels from the maximixe window button, making it rounded like the winter theme."

Hmm, I think the square icon looks more like a window. The Winter icon simply looks like a rounded box to me. :) The icons should be identifyable first and foremost.

"I'm not sure if this would work, but we could make the close button red, like windows xp does"

Hell no! :D

"fitt's law compliant"

I'd like to, but unfortunately it's not that easy with Metacity, without making the buttons look like crap (removing all spacing). I'm not sure if it's that important anyway, because it's not a real advantage with the GNOME default panel setup and using maximized windows is a bad idea anyway. ;)

 red button

Just to make clear: I use linux and only linux on my machine(s) in the last 5 years and I never actually owned any machine with winxp installed. Freedom really cares to me.

I suggested the red button because I tought that would be nice, not because windows does, ok? :)

Sure, and I said "Hell no" because I think it's bad, not because Windows does it. ;) I made Metacity themes with colored buttons before, and I always ended up regretting it. Before I go there, I'd rather make the buttons look like normal buttons (like Bluecurve), that would help usability a ton more.
