Description:

IKons 0.5 Pro is a hi-color icon theme. This is the professional edition, which means that it doesn't contain all the icons (e.g. the rocket icon isn't included). If you want the full iKons icon theme, you should download iKons 0.5 Home edition.

This release includes 16x16 icons, 22x22 icons, 32x32 icons, 48x48 icons and 64x64 icons for KDE, a KDE icon theme that can be used with the Control Center, as well as a README file that tells you how to install and alter this icon theme.

Changelog:

* Lots of new icons (menu icons, toolbar icons, etc.)
* improved folder icons
* more consistent icons

 How to install?

by anonymous on: Oct 15 2001

Score 50%

Forgive me for possibly missing something obvious. After uncompressing the tarball, and choosing Look & Feel/Icons and pointing to the iKons directory, I do not see the theme in my list of icon themes.

Do I have to uncompress these files in a certain location? Which file within the tarball should I "point" to when choosing "Install New Theme"? index.desktop?

Thanks for your help.

You don't have to uncompress the tarball. Select Look&Feel/Icons and point to the iKons tarball.
If you really want to uncompress
the tarball, then you should uncompress it to /home/userx/.kde/share/icons/

 Ummmm....

.... i definetly like it, but in my opinion some things should be changed....

I personally do not like much cartoons in my icons, since I use linux in my job, not in my spare time, and it's not very nice to be found out by your boss pressing a "rocket" icon to run a command. It looks like I'm playing games!

Definetly the linux kde desktop needs a serious/proffessional look as well. Would you be able to create different icon themes for both types of people? You're definetly good doing your job.

Hope you take this into account

Thanks

u.

are you serious? what kind of fascist hole do you work at where your boss would actually notice that, and even give a shit?
"hey, johnson, that pea-sized rocket looks mighty suspicious. doesn't look too professional...you playing games again johnson?"
come on man, you're asking for a change on a kde icon theme based on what your boss might think?! think about that...it's ridiculous. deal with your own paranoias and corporate infections, and let the rest of us keep lil' joys like these.
ikons developer fella, ignore this man, his cubicle has gotten the best of him. and don't waste your time on making two versions. make one good one, and leave these fools to pray for their salvation.

... my opinion, so please shut up or be a bit more sensible while critisizing other people. Nobody taught you manners?

It shouldn't be so difficult for you to observe that I really like this icon set as you see in other comments below. But everyone has the right to to have a different opinion. Why otherwise do they give the chance to write comments here? Just for good comments?

And please, leave comments on fascists for other strange mail lists to which you should belong.

U.

 Pro looking

While I do appreciate the author's effort in creating iKons I would myself like to see something that looks a bit more... "professional". I hope that doesn't make me a fascist ;-). Now, there are guidelines for creating KDE artwork and it is supposed to look somewhat "cartoonish". Still, I think it is possible to have a professional looking, cartoonish icon set. To begin with the Home icon should be redone - it makes me think of Hansel and Gretchen outside the witch's house...
Anyway, thanks for iKons. Choice is good. There will be more.

Niklas L.

 iKons 0.5

I'm the creator of iKons (Kicons). If you have suggestions for future releases of iKons (Kicons), this is your chance to get them into iKons 0.5 ... contact me at kborrey@skynet.be
I would like to hear from you if you're interested in two seperate iKons packages: a "spare time" icon theme and a "serious/professional" icon theme.
"iKons 0.5" will feature more mimetype icons, more icons for Kicker (Desktop and Konqueror icons) and toolbar/menu icons

I would really love if you could have separate (serious/proffesional and spare time) packages.

Whatever you decide to do with version 0.5, congratulations for the good work done already.

U.

Hello, first of all, thanks a lot for this great job.
Could it be possible to have a peripheral icon for the cdwriter that look like the one for the cdrom. The overall look would be more consistent.

I must say the iKons style is much cleaner and stylisher then the kde defaults. Please replace all still existing kde looks. Especially the 'home' icon and the MIME-type icons. Thanks for your work.
