Description:

Lipstik is a fast and clean style for KDE3 with many options to tune your desktop look.

Just try it! :)

INSTALLATION : Please read the INSTALL file.

CONFIGURATION : You can find many options in the style's configuration panel. Go to Settings/Appearance & Themes/Style and click on the 'configure' button.

BUGS : Read the BUGS file; if the issue is not reported, post a comment below, I'll try to read them often.

DEBUG TRACE : If you have a debug trace, dont post it here; send it to me via email.

Lipstik now has a home page, go check it out!

Have fun!

Changelog:

---01/10/2007---
2.2.3 : For my PC-BSD friends...
--Add a configurable active tab highlight color.
--PC-BSD rocks! Try it!

---17/02/2007---
2.2.2 : After one year...
--Just a repackaging of the special Debian version.
--Updated the spec file for Fedora Core 6, thanks to Pramod Venugopal.
--Lipstik now has a home page (http://poplix.homelinux.com/lipstik).

...I have a new version (2.3) locally but it will need some more testing before I release it; Lipstik is still not dead after all ;)

Really really nice, you got me to abandon qt-curve for your widget style. Good that you added an option for "draw toolbar separator", this was one of Plastiks biggest mistakes.

Im not the one who added the option, its in plastik CVS HEAD version and its probably Sandro Giessl (plastik's author) who did it.

Thanks Sandro! :)

could you provide an option to undo the inverted gradients on buttons? I liked them the plastik way, but I prefer most other things in your style...

configure runs fine, but make (last few lines):

Hmm, its hard to say...

What distro?
What compiler?

Did you try make -f Makefile.dist, then configure, make... ?

Please give more details, maybe others will be more able to help you... I use Slackware, and everything builds on this thing...

I've installed lipstick, but it doesnt show up. guess its installed in the wrong place, as happens quite often (debian doesnt have kde installed in some special place like other distributions, eg in /opt or in /usr/local but just like other apps in /usr/lib and /usr/bin etc. this app doesnt seem to be flexible enough to recognize that...)

Hi,

I like the modifications made to Plastik. Though I'm not a fan of Active Heart I like the inverted gradients a lot - if nothing else than it's at least a fresh look :)
Only Just noticed that the status bar frames are gone. Looks good in Konqueror (file manager) but a bit awkward in ... Konqueror (web-browser). This is because in the file manager there is some text in the status bar normally, so the space is in no case unused. While webbrowsing I have mostly no text in the statusbar and it looks a bit strange - as if it shouldn't be there at all. Hmm not sure, but one thing about this is that I think this should be a change done in Konqueror, not in Plastik - because maybe (you never know) there is some application that uses those lines for good reason and doesn't work well with Lipstik because of that.

Btw. I'm glad you gave this another name instead of providing a patched Plastik.

The only other thing I don't like and think might confuse some are the fewer dots for moveable items. There are elements with jusst two or three dots and I don't think new users will know that these are 'handles'.

Nice work on the bigger slider-handles. (contrary to what I've said before ;))

Oh, almost forgot:
I made a debian package of the style and it is available here:
http://www.deadhand.com/kde-debian/kwin-style-lipstick_0.3-1_i386.deb

(for the moment just grab it directly - it's not in the repository right now)

The gradients in the vertical sliders are so poor. Can you fix them?

You can the latest version of my Gentoo ebuild here:

http://www.lenzheilmann.de/downloads/lipstik-0.3.tar.gz

Just unpack it in your portage overlay directory and install it via 'emerge lipstik'.

Have fun,
Lenz.
