Description:

Note: This is similar to my earlier work on a 13.04-compatible theme: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Ubuntu+Touch-Style+Light+Themes?content=158615

This is an updated Ubuntu 15.10-compatible Ambiance modification which includes Unity and GTK+3 widget theming. Again, it was originally inspired by a mockup by Lucas Romero Di Benedetto: https://plus.google.com/104438618743851678614/posts/WL5iugZPnXd However, the goal is to copy the new official theme for Unity 8 as closely as possible, with authenticity in mind..

To install, extract the AmbianceTouch folder and place it in ~/.themes/ . Then use a tool like Unity Tweak Tool to set it. Note that while installed, this theme may override the default Ambiance theme original, but it shouldn't. If it does and you want the original back, just remove the added folder and reload your theme.

Also note there is no Radiance variant in this version yet, but I will be working on it and will post it separately once it is ready.

Credit on the original Ubuntu themes package goes of course to the Ubuntu Artwork Packagers team on Launchpad (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-art-pkg) and related contributors to the original unmodified theme. Some assets were also borrowed from the Ubuntu UI Toolkit (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-ui-toolkit). In accordance with the COPYING file in the original package, this modified theme is also distributed under the GNU GPLv3 license.

Changelog:

  • r518: GTK+2/3 tweaks to better match the updated official Unity 8 theme. This will be the last release for Wily Werewolf; I'm moving on to Xenial Xerus moving forward.

  • r502: GTK+3 widget theming.

  • r465: Initial upload.

     gtk2 is simply Ambiance.

Please update gtk2 because it doesn't fit with gtk3.

And change name in the index.theme to Ambiance-Touch (or anything else) and folder name, because Ambiance is default theme and already exists there.

Both of these will eventually be addressed. If you want the original Ambiance theme back, simply uninstall this one until I get a new name set in the theme files; also, I will finish the GTK+3 modifications first before porting them over to GTK+2. Thanks for the feedback!

Sorry, I can't reproduce this issue on my own system. I'm using Unity on Ubuntu 15.10 and the current version of the theme only modifies the window titlebars and Unity shell theme; no GTK changes yet. How does your system behave with the original Ambiance theme?
