Google Hangout Emojis Complete

Description:

Collection of 861 emojis directly from Google Hangout.

This set contains all emoticons currently available.

Icons are property of Google Inc.

Attention: For a mysterious reason, selecting the new theme in System Settings causes changes in some emoticons, that don't work. So, to prevent this issue, after installing the theme and before enabling it go in

$HOME/.kde/share/emoticons/Google*

or

$HOME/.kde4/share/emoticons/Google*

(depending on your distro) and change attributes of emoticons.xml removing write permission.

If you miss this step and you notice strange characters on chat log, I have included a backup file of the theme file that you can use to restore defaults and adjust permissions.

How to upgrade: before each upgrade you have to temporary restore write attribute to emoticons.xml then install the new theme and then removing again write permissions.

Changelog:

0.3.2.1 (2014-12-19):
* added missing strings

0.3.2 (2014-12-18):
* Facebook compatibility (kudos to pejakm)

0.3.1 (2014-09-15):
* fix: visualization problems

0.3 (2014-09-15):
* 30 more emoticons

0.2 (2013-12-03):
* renamed icons for better ordering

0.1 (2013-12-02):
* First release

 Great

Hi! This is great emoticon pack. However, may I suggest to make some changes in xml file, so that it would be somewhat compatible with Facebook standard icons?

Here's the diff: https://gist.github.com/pejakm/9a5fa48f03a87818bf1a

Thanks!

Before releasing I have to ask: why you removed some lines?

Hi.

First, I've updated gist.

Now, I've removed "8-)" and "8)" from "😎" ("cool" emoji) because Facebook is using those for "nerdy" smiley, and "nerd" emoji will only be available as of Unicode 8 [1]. Facebook is using "8-|" and "8|" for "cool" smiley. [2] But if this conflicts to other set of emoticons/emojis, I can probably find a workaround.

I also removed ";-)" and ";)" from "😜" ("stuck-out tongue and winking eye") emoji [3] because I find that these smileys better fit to "πŸ˜‰" ("winking") emoji. [4]

Ok, I decided to partially accept your changes:
- all new lines are in
- changed ;-) and ;) in ;-P and ;P
- regarding 8) and 8-) , they are quite standard; f.i. are used this way in standard kde emoticons; anyway, I can't find among google emoticons a "nerd smile". So left untouched.

Thanks

Just one more thing: I've noticed you haven't add ":-*" and ":*" for the "kiss" emoji (, emoticon-046, "πŸ˜™"), was that accidental ommit?

Thanks for updating these emoticons for the hangout on Google plus. I use that social media site all the time. =)

At least on Arch Linux, the location is ~/.local/share/emoticons

 >100 wrong emojis

No matter what I try, there's always over 100 incorrect emoji: http://imgur.com/a/1NTGH

I've tried extracting the archive outside of the emoticons folder, setting the file to be read-only, and then moving it in, but it still ends up having these errors.
