Description:

This is a theme based on the Lion theme from the elementary updates ppa, but simplified and mintified. That's why it's called Mion. (Also becouse of in-joke.)

Other than the mintish color scheme I did the following tweaks:
- got rid of certain weird choices (dark granite tab bar, dark secondary toolbar in scratch)
- made the dark pantheon terminal look better
- added a simpler non-brushed-metal slider for the scale and switch widget (now they are rendered directly by the engine, no svgs needed)
- turned the unity-2d-panel (which I liked to use) and wingpanel transparent and awesome
- light outer glow effect for the toolbar icons in the dark theme so darkish symbolic action icons (like Faience) are now more noticeable

The Firefox theme is a user style seen in the screenshot: http://userstyles.org/styles/93553/clean-and-slim-for-australis-mockup-theme-linux (it also needs the Australis mockup style, see the description)
The plank theme will be available soon.

Note: This theme was made for elementary OS Luna, therefore it was only tested in an Ubuntu 12.04ish GTK environment, with a libmutter based window manager. Using with other versions of GTK3, other window managers etc. will may lead to ugliness, death of kittens and the end of the world as we know it.

Changelog:

14.01.24: Fixed Noise (and Granite) statusbar ugliness, added some shadow to the Nautilus desktop texts (this is supposed to work in a Cinnamon environment on the long term supported 13 / Maya which is based on 12.04) and added wingpanel theme.
13.10.1: First version

Oh. They are actually one and the same. Gnome 3 brought the option for apps to decide if they want to use a dark theme or a light one. Very few apps opt-in for the dark theme. (eg. Eye of gnome, Final Term, Pantheon Terminal, Totem, maybe Audience) The user still the (not so visible) option to tell all gtk3 apps to use the dark version, but that'll only work with gtk3 apps, therefore qt (eg. VirtualBox, VLC etc etc), xul (Firefox, Thunderbird), LibreOffice/OpenOffice or actual native gtk2 apps (eg. the current stable version of quite a few things) will still appear with a light version, since gtk2 did not have this dual theme option.

So if you use a gtk3 heavy environment (that probably means Elementary Luna without anything) you might want to check the SECOND answer here out: http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/14129/set-gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme-as-a-user-setting

 Cinnamon

When used with Cinnamon, the text for the desktop icons was plain black (would be a problem with dark backgrounds) rather than the typical two-color scheme. (White with black shadow; black with white outline, etc.) Could Cinnamon be supported in a future update?

Could be. I've never actually used Cinnamon before, but I'm sure it can be fixed. (I also want to add style for wingpanel, so it'll look more like the unity-2d-panel on my screenshot.)

I added a subtle shadow for the desktop in the new version, could you test it and describe your feelings about it?

I'll try it in Cinnamon when I get a chance (still have a live CD at home). I've kinda switched to Ubuntu. FYI There are similar issues seeing the desktop icon text in Unity (almost looks like only the shadow is being rendered???)

What version of Ubuntu did you use? On 12.04 both a dark text and a light shadow should be rendered. But as I said I'm not entirely sure about it, that's why I asked your opinion, since you were the one reporting about the potential problem. Anyhow could you send me a screenshot to see if the text really isn't rendered?

I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 (latest). I'll see what I can do about Screenshots. The test below the icons was light gray and tended to be hard to see in dark area. (Like I said, I got the impression that only the shadow portion of the text rendered.)

Oh. As the description above says this was made for 12.04 based systems. So yeah, there might be (are) glitches with later gtk versions.

Just tried it in Cinnamon (2.0 on Mint 16). Better. It looks like it's now dark text with a light gray shadow. That seems a little weird, but it's definitely a lot more readable on dark backgrounds.

I like that the progress bar is a moving stripe. Don't see that much these days.
