 speed

I'm using akregator for quite some time now. I don't know if it's only me but browsing the list of feeds need some optimization, especially on feeds with many articles. I would understand that populating the list with articles can take some time when "All articles" option is chosen, but this can take few seconds even with "New & Unread" option, no matter how many new articles there are. I don't know the specifics of implementation but couldn't it load only those new & unread and load the rest only if I choose "All articles"?
Beside of that this app is very nice. Oh, and I can't wait for back/forward/reload buttons added to pageviewer:)

hi, we are in beta right now, so i'd be awesome if you submitted a new bug to http://bugs.kde.org/. I'd be great if you could attach your feed list to that bug as well. We really haven't spent much time optimizing stuff, but we definatly will before we hit 1.0.

 no notification

thanks for the new akregator.

but the notification is not working at all here with 'Ion' as my window manager.
I suspect, that it is since you may not be able to find the system tray icon, and so have no object where to place the notification.

But apart from this, why don't you (judging from screenshots only) use standard KNotify notifications? It not just looks better (more consistent, and not everybody likes these freeform windows) but would probably be easier to code and work with all window managers.

thanks for another fine akregator beta :)

Hoped kalyxo would have a debian package up quickly but guess what? I build my own and it actually works! (first time making a deb for me)

Anyway I tend to agree that a notification in the same style KMail uses would feel more consistent.
I know Kopete has the same you use, but (1) it's a chat application and therefore this speech bubble type fits pretty well and (2) Kopete gives this message when you receive a single message, thus "view" and "ignore" are specific for this certain message. With akregator there will most of the time be more than one new feed thus "view" can be there (like with Kmail) but it's not so important since it can only open one of the new feeds anyway.

 kpart broken in 3.4

I installed KDE 3.4 alpha last night and Kontact no longer loads the kpart for Akregator. It gives me an error when I try to read any feed from within Kontact.

 Display Website

I think it would be much nicer to display the referenced website in the lower right pane like Thunderbird is doing it.

A lot of feeds do not provide a summary and then you have to open a tab each time.

At least it would be great if this would be an optional setting.

Agreed. I've been pestering websites with bad feeds, but it's not possible to get them all to improve them!

It's actually more work navigating the feeds of these websites who provide nothing more than a title and a link than it is just loading them up in Konqueror. At least then you can simply scroll down a page to see all the news items.

I used Thunderbird in the past, but I have to say that i prefer the Akregator approach. Having the site loading in a small frame is not a good idea.
