Updated:  May 23 2013

Description:

There are two versions of the themes:
- Version 4.0 for Ubuntu 13.04.
- Version 2.7 for Ubuntu 12.10 (I wont update this version anymore because I can't test it).

I made some changes to the originals Ambiance and Radiance Themes, and I added some new color versions too. I'm using textures to give the themes a different look.

The theme contains:

1) AmbianceP: original ambiance with some changes.
2) AmbiancePDark, AmbiancePDarkBlue and AmbiancePDarkGreen: darker Ambiance with some changes.
3) RadianceP: Original Radiance with some changes.
4) RadiancePMetal, RadiancePMetalOrange, RadiancePMetalGreen: a grey version of Radiance.
5) RadiancePCalm: a green version of Radiance with low contrast.
6) AmbiancePNight, AmbiancePNightBlue and AmbiancePNightGreen: a really dark version of Ambiance.
7) RadiancePG, RadiancePGOrange, RadiancePGGreen: a very light theme based on Google Plus theme.

----------------------------------------

FIREFOX PERSONAS:
I created Personas (themes) for Firefox and Thunderbird maching the AmbiancePDark, AmbiancePNight, AmbianceP and RadiancePMetal styles. You can find them in:
AmbiancePDark and AmbiancePNight: https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/ambiancepdark/
RadiancePMetal: https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/radiancepmetal/
AmbianceP:https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/ambiancep/
RadiancePCalm: https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/ambiancep/

CHROMIUM AND CHROME THEMES
For AmbiancePDark, AmbiancePNight, RadiancePMetal and RadiancePCalm: Inside there are folders named Chromium with the chromium theme file. Just drag and drop this file into Chromium's address bar and aply the theme.

ICONS:
I strongly recommend the amazing FS Icons Ubuntu made by franksouza183. In my opinion, it is the best icon set, and it also has different colors. You can download it from http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/FS+Icons+Ubuntu?content=147048

Note: the window buttons used in RadiancePMetal are from the Faience Theme made by tiheum (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Faience?content=154949).

Note2: The texture used in RadiancePCalm is based on one created by Webtreats (http://webtreats.mysitemyway.com/).

Changelog:

22/05/2013 -v4.0
- New color variants (Blue, Orange and Green).
- Improved base Chromium theme (thanks to use sadi).
- Small fixes.

02/05/2013 - v3.0
- Updated for Ubuntu 13.04.
- I kept the version v2.7 for Ubuntu 12.10, but I won't update it anymore.

08/04/2013 - v2.7
- Improvements in progressbar.
- Improvements in selected toolbar buttons.
- Improvements in calendar appindicator.
- Fixed the menubar background (thanks to user sadi for noticed that).
- Improvements in metacity buttons.
- Added RadiancePG.

01/04/2013 - v2.6
- Small tweaks to text shadows, tabs colors, menu borders, etc.

23/01/2013 - v2.5
- RadiancePCalm has been Texturized!
- Fixed a bug in the toolbar buttons.

17/01/2013 - v2.4
This update has two main purposes:
- Fix a bug in the previous version that made the buttons look ugly when there was high CPU load (because i was using images to draw the buttons). Fix it. Now the buttons use CSS gradients.

14/01/2013 - v2.3

- I will be updating the others themes shortly.

12/01/2013: v2.2:
- Fixed an issue with the color of the MusicControls in AmbiancePDark.
- In GTK2 the menus now have "metal" background in AmbiancePDark, AmbiancePNight and RadiancePMetal.
- Added in AmbiancePDark, AmbiancePNight and RadiancePMetal a folder named Chromium with themes for Chromium (and Chrome) webbrowser.
- I created Personas (themes) for Firefox and Thunderbird maching the AmbiancePDark, AmbiancePNight and RadiancePMetal Style.

05/01/2013 - v2.1: Added AmbiancePNight. Changes (hopefully improvements) to progressbar, switchs, scales and toolbar buttons.

28/12/2012 - v2.0: Lots of changes, including theme colors, button borders, shapes, toolbars, sidebars, etc.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Which theme are you using (AmbiancePDark, PNight, etc.)? Can you upload a screen capture of Rhythmbox to see it? (I use gmusicbrowser instead of Rhythmbox). You can use ubuntuone to upload it.

Maybe he means that the music catalogue dark bar doesn't fit very well with the rhythmbox background. I made a screenshot where I marked with a red arrow the dark bar: http://ubuntuone.com/57gHzua8Im3GbHMhCUSvBc

Really cool theme! I like how you customized Ambiance. It would be great if you can texturize (on AmbianceP) and add the metal background (on AmbiancePdark) in windows title bar too. Thanks a lot!

It is done in the new version (v2.4). Unfortunatly, Metacity treats images different than GTK, so it is not exactly the same. However, I personally think it is better than the previous version. Let me know what you think.

 RadiancePMetal does not work

Ok, let see. What do you mean by "does not work"? Please be more specific.
What program are you using to change the theme? Can you select it? What happen when you select it?
Is RadiancePMetal the only one that doesn't work?

1) I use Gnome Tweak Tool to change the theme.
2) RadiancePMetal is the only one that "doesn't work".
3) Actually, it seems metacity is OK, but probably the problem with GTK theme is invisible (white) text, e.g. can't see the text in Gnome Tweak Panel, Nautilus window, etc.

That is strange, I've just tested and it works fine for me.
Witch OS version are you using? Because these themes will only work properly on Ubuntu 12.10 or 13.04 (or anything else based on gnome 3.6). They will not work properly on Ubuntu 12.04 (because it uses an older version of gnome), nor in Gnome 3.8

Very strange indeed. I use Ubuntu 12.10 and Nautilus 3.6. I checked folder and file permissions one by one; they're all rw-r-r.
However, I tried one last thing and placed this theme under ~/.themes and removed from /usr/share/themes and it worked!
Interesting puzzle for me; I'll try to solve it for fun ;-)

 Suggestions

by sadi on: Apr 4 2013

Score 50%

To help improve this great theme pack, I'd like to make the following suggestions for RadiancePMetal, my favorite one:

1) Adding a little more space to the right of title bar buttons as a couple of pixels are cut off from the right edges of prelight & pressed buttons.

2) Making the background of title bar buttons the same as the rest of title bar as it is now a much lighter shade of grey.

3) Making the background of menu bar the same as the title bar as it is now a much lighter shade of grey (as above).

4) Synaptic Package Manager toolbar background color is white in the Quick filter area as well as the blank area on the right.

5) Google Chrome/Chromium tab bar background color should also be the same as title bar and it shouldn't be necessary to use a special theme for this.

Also, I think it might be good idea to split this project into two as AmbianceP and RadianceP.

Thanks once again for this nice work.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Items 1) and 2) are currently on my punch list. I will try to fix them soon.
I don't understand what you mean in item 3). Can you please upload a screenshot showing that? (maybe to the ubuntuone service)
Items 4) and 5) are more difficult. Chromium doesn't seem to be following the GTK theme.

I will consider splitting up the project in two.

That´s a good idea, but those fixes are currently on hold. Now I'm working to adapt the themes to Nautilus 3.6, so it can be used in Ubuntu 13.04.
I expect to finish that next week. After that, I will start to work in items 4 & 5.
