Konqueror in KDE 3.3 already has a Google Bar. Does this provide the same functionality or is there something new?

Osho

Hey people, please give me feedback about how do you feel about this google toolbar?
I am thinking of making all in one toolbar like adding yahoo companion, may be other search-engines. the change of face of Google toolbar would be on the fly!
Also, plese tell me how to add icon installation support through kdevelop.

A "google like" tool bar is definitely a MUST for Konq, nevertheless, I think that by now search feature becomes fuzzy in the konq interface:
Indeed, you have:
- web shortcuts
- konq search combo
- your toolbar.

What would be realy GREAT would be to remasterize the whole thing with ONE full featured search tool natively integrated.

Example: in Konq prefs, you could say: I'm using shortcuts, so I disable the search specifi fields, but I realy want the buttons to be displayed so I can highlight the searched words.

Such an integration would reduce a lot redundancy (search engines prefs and so) and increase ergonomy a lot.

Best regards.

I have compiled this code on SuSE-9.1 with KDE-3.3beta2 and qt-3.3.1.

The function which is giving error, is because of findTextNext() and findText function code changes in KHTMLPart. In fact, in documentation of khtmlpart, it is written.

So if you want to compile it, please upgrade to at least beta2. the find function of searchbar(the new one in location bar) of konqueror is also not working now.

I am sorry, but I can't help, as I don't know how to accomodate with both releases, without testing it with previous release :(.

You can comment out that function in plugin_googlebar.cpp though :)

I dont really understand all these searchbars... the only search I use is google. and for that, I just type the searchwords in my locationbar, and hit enter - and google shows up. why another space-wasting bar? maybe 1 or 2 icons to enhance the functionallity of the locationbar (eg a "search with" button, so instead of plain google, other search engines are used - this *can* now be done using the webshortcuts, but no-one can remember them all ;-) )

I use only one toolbar in konqi, with up/back/next/refresh/stop/locationbar/search/+/-textsize
and I whoulnt want to have 3 or 4 bars decreasing my browsing screen...
