False advertising alert :D Also, the theme took out my minimize/maximize/close buttons for all window decorations. I'd avoid it if I were you. Judging by the 0.9 version, and the 0.1 results, I'd wait till about version 6.0 or so. :P

A real nondoctored (unlike whats on the site) screenshot of this theme can be found at http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gtg775y/snapshot1.png

RF & Co

Hey, great theme, this is just what I have been looking for, QVWM and FVWM95 are cool but I have not seen an XP one yet. Is a kde theme file available ? I don't usually use kde cause I have a real slow box, and I have had some trouble installing this theme as I rarely mess with themes. (the how to install does not work on bsd) Could you please post a link to a kde theme file if one exists, or possibly consider making one with the kde control centre for those of us who need a little help :)

TIA

 Theme is for real

The screenshots are not doctored, this is real. It's just that the installer scripts are so broken, you have to have a lot of luck for them to work out of the box :)

First, scripts assume that you already have all the necessary directories which must not be true, for example I didn't have ~/.kde/share/icons/ until I created it by hand. My advice is to open *install*.sh files in an editor and first manually create all directories in question before running these scripts.

Second the theme installation does *not* work on KDE 3.3.x, only KDE 3.2.x is supported. To install the theme under KDE 3.3.x, do the following: enter the directory where you unpacked this .tar.gz and run:

cp kde_xp.kth ~/.kde/share/apps/kstyle/themes/
cp -R kstyle/themes/kde_xp/ ~/.kde/share/apps/kstyle/themes/
kinstalltheme

The theme file has two bugs:
- close/maximize/minimize buttons dissapear. To fix this, in KControl go to Appearance/WinDeco/Buttons and set "Use custom titlebar..." to *off*.
- Icons are not set automatically! Just do it by hand.

To have panel just like the one on the first screenshot you first have to install SuperKaramba then Winbar extension (it's also in the .tar.gz) Otherwise, you'll have something like the second/third screenshot but only after some manual cleanup.

Don't use the download by Chiara Dibi! It's outdated and even more broken.

I have converted a cople of people in to using OpenOffice.... But they wil not let go of WinXP...."I know what I have...blablalba....So no Linux for me please!" But if I hade this theme on a linux pc... they arent profficant in windows any way.... But I am on Fedora Core 3... so ther was a lot of manuel work... but if you bother... I had my LapTop on a cafè and a friend touth I had sold out! It was great fun!
