Description:

VLSub is not working with Vlc 2.1.x, please update to 2.2.

Search and download subtitles from opensubtitles.org using the hash of the video currently playing or its title.
INSTALLATION:
- click on the download button below
- save the archive and extract the file "vlsub.lua"
- create a directory "extensions" at this location and put the file "vlsub.lua" inside:
* Windows (all users): %ProgramFiles%\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\extensions\
* Windows (current user): %APPDATA%\vlc\lua\extensions\
* Linux (all users): /usr/lib/vlc/lua/extensions/
* Linux (current user): ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/extensions/
* Mac OS X (all users): /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/
* Mac OS X (current user): /Users/%your_name%/Library/Application Support/org.videolan.vlc/lua/extensions/

...or use the installer below if you're on Windows 7 (32 or 64)

To start the extension click on View > VLSub or Vlc > Extensions > VLSub on Mac OS.

 Cannot save the subs in the movie folder anymore

Hello to all,
Cannot save the subs in the movie folder anymore...and furthermore it does not rename them according to the movie name. It just pops up a link to download the sub and nothing more!
Any ideas on what should i do?

 Integration with legendas.tv a huge PT sub repo

Hey, first of all nice addon! congrats!
I`m one of the guys that want the best subtitle for each movie I wanna watch, so as a Brazilian I always go to the legendas.tv and search for the best subtitle for that release and they are always excellent. Legendas.tv is the most used subtitle repository for portuguese (BR and Portugal) I can say 99.9% download subs from there. So it would be really great if you could integrate with them. Some guys already made an API in PHP (available here https://github.com/gustavosf/api.legendas.tv) that you could use as base for it.
You can ask me, ok but why you can't you the PT-br subtitles available on opensubtitles, my answer: most of the PT-br subtitles available there are Google Translated so there are a lot of errors and not synced well.

A friend of mine said to me a while go when he just bought his Macbook, "I miss BS Player that downloaded the subtitle automatically for me" and when I found out about VLSub I sent the link to him right away.

So for all the Brazilians, Portugueses and other countries that speak PT, it would be really really great if you could add an option to download subtitles from Legendas.tv (www.legendas.tv) it requires login and password but I saw on VLSub config that there are some inputs for it, great job :)
I hope you can find some time to improve this excellent addon and integrate with legendas.tv.

 Solution for the "unable to save" error

Hello,

for a long time, I got the message "Error: unable to save subtitles Click here to open the file" every time I used vlsub. But I' just found out a fix.

I am french, so my series folder is named "Séries". I changed it to "Series" (with an "e", not an "é") and I don't have an error anymore.
It seems that this error is caused by some characters in the path where you try to save the subtitles.

Hope it will help some of you.

I speak English but am not a programmer. I get the same error message: "Error: unable to save subtitles Click here to open the file"(and clicking there doesn't do anything.)
So 1: How and exactly where do I paste the following: "/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/"?
I tried pasting it in the window that is titled: VLSub Working Directory in "Configuration" but it just reverted to its original path.
And 2: The above instructions that say "To start the extension click on View > VLSub or Vlc > Extensions > VLSub on Mac OS." make no sense to me because the View tab has none of those choices.
