Description:

VLSub is not working with Vlc 2.1.x, please update to 2.2.

Search and download subtitles from opensubtitles.org using the hash of the video currently playing or its title.
INSTALLATION:
- click on the download button below
- save the archive and extract the file "vlsub.lua"
- create a directory "extensions" at this location and put the file "vlsub.lua" inside:
* Windows (all users): %ProgramFiles%\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\extensions\
* Windows (current user): %APPDATA%\vlc\lua\extensions\
* Linux (all users): /usr/lib/vlc/lua/extensions/
* Linux (current user): ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/extensions/
* Mac OS X (all users): /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/
* Mac OS X (current user): /Users/%your_name%/Library/Application Support/org.videolan.vlc/lua/extensions/

...or use the installer below if you're on Windows 7 (32 or 64)

To start the extension click on View > VLSub or Vlc > Extensions > VLSub on Mac OS.

I have VLC ver 2.1.5 with your vsub ver 0.9.10 and it shows in view but does nothing. Im using win 7 32 bit. When a movie is running it will not open "view" at all.

As explained on top of the page :

VLSub is not working with Vlc 2.1.x, you can use one of these versions instead:
-Vlc 2.0.8 (stable)
http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/2.0.8/
- Vlc 2.2 (pre release)
http://download.videolan.org/testing/vlc-2.2.0-pre3/

Latest (0.9.13) VLSub working fine with it, and no interface focus switching issues anymore too (VLC related) :)

First I want to say that I am a VLC virgin. I've only been using it for a year or so and just now realized and found that there are so much more things that you can do with it.

I am trying to get VLSub to work and I followed the instructions as best I could and it's still not working. I've got Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, as well as VLC Player Version 2.2.0-pre-3.

So, here is the url for the pastebin file that shows the messages in my VLC Player, http://pastebin.com/N52EgTDg, the errors at the end right when I press download selection is where it's stopping and not working.

Please Help Me!!!!!!!!

You have to download the last version of the script from here, the one included in Vlc is outdated. Then remove "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\extensions\VLSub.luac" and replace it with the new one, you should be ok.

I have Vlc 2.2 and using vlc-sub 0.9. Everytime I go to download the subtitles, nothing happens. I'm using OSX 10.9.5. When I try to download a different version on VLC, the extension won't work. The extension only works on 2.2. HELP.

Also using osx, I've used pretty much all the nightlies out there and have gotten it working on some but have gone back to using vlc 2.08, the only version that works pretty stable (in my experience). The only thing I miss about the later versions of vlc is that it remembers where you left off watching, other than that I don't see any big feature updates so I'm just waiting for vlc 2x for mac to come :). Make sure to delete everything vlc related when downgrading (I use easyfind for this chore, enable hidden files and such http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11076/easyfind)

 Did opensubtitles.org change something ?

I know i am not using the latest verison*, but while it worked fine for several weeks, it stopped downloading subtitles files few days ago (the progress bar of the download status does not even start). Does the website changed something that this extensions is no longer able to "translate" ?

*The only way i manage to make it work (before the problem i mention above) is with VLC 2.0.8 and VLSub 0.9.10, Mac OS X 10.5.8, 32 bits.
I have tried since with every VLC version i can run and VLSub 0.9.1 and 0.9.13. Nothing worked.

I know you won't develop the 0.9.1 anymore, but do you have a guess of what i could modify in the luac file to try to fix the problem ?

Does anyone has the same downloading problem with 0.9.13 for several days ?
