Description:

VLSub is not working with Vlc 2.1.x, please update to 2.2.

Search and download subtitles from opensubtitles.org using the hash of the video currently playing or its title.
INSTALLATION:
- click on the download button below
- save the archive and extract the file "vlsub.lua"
- create a directory "extensions" at this location and put the file "vlsub.lua" inside:
* Windows (all users): %ProgramFiles%\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\extensions\
* Windows (current user): %APPDATA%\vlc\lua\extensions\
* Linux (all users): /usr/lib/vlc/lua/extensions/
* Linux (current user): ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/extensions/
* Mac OS X (all users): /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/
* Mac OS X (current user): /Users/%your_name%/Library/Application Support/org.videolan.vlc/lua/extensions/

...or use the installer below if you're on Windows 7 (32 or 64)

To start the extension click on View > VLSub or Vlc > Extensions > VLSub on Mac OS.

hello, vlsub does not open when playing a movie. full log here:

however it does open when no movie is playing. log here:

System info:

Using ubuntu 13.10 x64.
VLC 2.1.1

I do remember the same bug when i was using windows 7. however i don't have the log, sorry.

Hi, it got it working inmediately!

However, is it an idea to make an option that auto downloads a sub when there is a hash based match? That would be even more awesomeness!!
I use my phone to control VLC using vlc remote and still have to manually add the subtitles.

That's a modified version of vlsub I made a while ago (with some help from exebetche) that downloads the first hash result.
Doesn't work very well, though. It closes if it doesn't find any hash results... You'll still find it very useful but you need to use both versions, if this one fails you open the original vlsub.
I can assure you, you're going to use this version way more than the original one

Well, the original script is called VLSub...

About your question, I have no idea. I don't really know how to code, all I did was to read the contents of the script until I kinda understood how to do what I wanted to accomplish (Click the "download" button automatically, then click the "close" button, exebetche helped me to select the first result)

If I have to guess, it can't be done (at least not from the script itself)
