Description:

Orion is a modern light theme for Gnome. It supports Gnome, Unity, Pantheon, XFCE and Openbox. The theme is compatible with GTK 3.6. It also includes a GTK 2.0 theme using Murrine engine.

---

Ubuntu users can install Orion from our themes PPA using the following commands,

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:satyajit-happy/themes
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install orion-gtk-theme

---

Installation Instructions for other distros:

Extract the zip file to the themes directory i.e. "~/.themes/" or "/usr/share/themes/"

Use Gnome Tweak tool to choose the theme, or run the following commands in Terminal,

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme "Orion"

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences theme "Orion"

---

Note:

For older GTK versions, download the theme from launchpad,

GTK3.4: https://launchpad.net/~satyajit-happy/+archive/themes/+files/orion-gtk-theme_2012.06.16-0~satya164~precise.tar.gz (Unico engine required)

GTK3.2: https://launchpad.net/~satyajit-happy/+archive/themes/+files/orion-gtk-theme_2012.02.03-0~satya164~oneiric.tar.gz (Unico engine required)

This theme is not compatible with old Gnome 3.0.

 Excellent Theme

As an expression of thanks for this elegant theme, I would like to share my thoughts on 2 potential areas for improvement:
1) Colors of window control buttons: the colors we see when hovering could be red, amber and green (this is already there) although I'm not a fan of Mac. The fact that they are all blue until you hover on them is creative and different enough and better than Mac, I think.
2) In Nautilus (without the menu bar) the title bar and path/tool bar could perhaps be more compatible with each other. This might be mostly because of the design of Nautilus. Isn't it possible to have just a frame around the files and folders window and nothing in between the title bar, side bar and path/tool bar?

 Great theme & my thoughts.

First of all I think you did a great job with this theme and I hope you'll maintain it for a long time.
Second I would like to say that I think the scroll bar is a little narrow and could be (almost) as the width of the square decoration.
And about the decoration I think on the mouse hoover effect you could add a minus [ - ] a plus [ + ] and an x [ x ] for minimize, maximize/restore and close, like a mac style. Or you could add that not just for the hoover effect but the default, either way I think is a good ideea.
Just look at it, it looks great: [ - ] [ + ] [ x ]
or ... [-] [+] [x]
Or make available the decoration for both options if you think it's a good ideea, with and without hoover effect signs/indicators.
Thanks for the theme !
