 Exit doesn't work

When I exit the program via file menu / exit, the qdvdauthor process stays alive and I have to kill it by hand.

I installed qdvdauthor on a SuSE-9.3 linux distrubtion via a Packman rpm:
http://packman.links2linux.org/?action=473

I have the same problem, when I execute "qdvdauthor" from a bash shell, after exiting, the app is still running in the background. I need to kill it via "kill -9 pid".

I then de-installed the Packman version and tried to re-install the tarball (via "./configure"), to see if my own compiled version would solve this (and some other bugs), but I couldn't install qdvdauthor this way, as I encountered a problem with ./configure ("-lt: unary operator expected" ...etc ... identical to that of another user, also noted below).

 problems...

After going through the dependency-hell, I finally got some reaction from qdvdauthor: an endless line of "WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU..."

Any idea what I did wrong...? The xml-file looks good to me, but then I have no idea :-)

The problem is most likely your mpeg file but I also heared of this problem due to an old dvdauthor.

Try to use the latest dvdauthor version first as this is the easiest solution (0.6.11)

Your mpeg misses some information that dvdauthor needs (or maybe isn't an mpeg in the correct format).

For a otherwise correct mpeg the solution is to remultiplex the file with:
mplayer -dumpfile mpegfile -dumpaudio audiofile;
mplayer -dumpfile mpegfile -dumpvideo videofile;
mplex -f 8 -o result audiofile videofile;
You can then process result with dvdauthor.

If the file isn't a mpeg or in the wrong format you need to recode the file first. Consult the excellent docs of mplayer http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/menc-feat-vcd-dvd.html
"Using MEncoder to create VCD/SVCD/DVD-compliant files"

 suggestion

After some updates I got qdvdauthor running, and it really has been an great help in creating DVD's. May I suggest that you add an option to preserve a profile, like the directory where the DVD-image is created, and the exact commandline for growisofs?

Please, I have the same problem trying to install qdvdauthor-0.0.10. I'm running SuSE-9.3. I believe I have checked (and met) all of the dependency requirements. Has anyone a solution for this problem?

(I wanted to build my own qdvdauthor, as opposed to using the rpm version on packman).

The message tells me that you do not have neither moc nor qmake in your path.

You should install qt-devel and set QTDIR.

Or if qt-devel is installed then include the bin directory into your path so configure can find moc and qmake.

Ps. Try the latest source from CVS. It has a ton of changes over the 0.0.10 code base.

Thankyou for your quick response.

After your email, to set up QT I followed details listed in:
http://www.digitalfanatics.org/projects/qt_tutorial/chapter04.html

QTDIR already was /usr/lib/qt3

I typed: export PATH=$PATH':/usr/lib/qt3/bin' to add qt3 to my path.

I also typed export $QMAKESPEC =$QDIR/mkspecs/linux-g++

As user "oldcpu" I typed ./configure and the "configurator for qdvdauthor" window came up. I left LD_LIBRARY_PATH blank, the rest of the fields appeared correct, and I clicked on compile.

It failed toward the end, giving me the red text error message: ld: cannot find -memcpymmx

I did a search for this sort of failure, but I came up with no response.

 Managed to compile

I tried to compile again, this time deselecting "vlc" in the configurator. With vlc deselected, I no longer obtained the "mmx memcopy module" error message.

I did get another error message, but I'll post that on the qdvdauthor forum.

Despite this second compile error message, qdvdauthor does run.

Yeah,

configurator will find libvlc.a and add those libs to the dependencies (as they are needed on SuSE 9.2).

Currently this is very static since I only recently found a way to compile VLC libs in.
