Ok, i'm a pkg maintainer for ArchLinux (KDE maintainer), 1stly i found the gui compiler thing to be a pain, espically when making pkg's, it's not really needed, so the ability to comile as normall (maybe ./configure --without-gui && make && make install ?).

Secondly, when i was trying to make a DVD the problem i had was with the video files, they were just standard mpg's and .avi's, would be nice if there was the ability to convert them to the desired format (dvd compatible mpg's), maybe using mencoder or ffmpeg or the mpeg tools?

Just for thought...

I haven't run through a build without using the GUI, but it looks like it should work just fine. The build system looks to be a qt gui on top of a standard qmake project. if you set the proper environment variables ( looks like IMAGE_LIB, QTDIR, and QT_LIB ) it should build fine without using qt front end.

you can disable the GUI by providing the appropriate input to configure.

please check out
> configure --help

Also there have been a ton of bug fixes which will be included in 0.0.8 (coming soon)

You should really mention that QDVD author 0.8 needs QT/KDE 3.2 or better. I tried to build it on a qt/kde 3.1 box. It stated it needed qt 3.2.

On that note. I never got 0.7 to work either.
It sounds like a great idea but no dice.
I use Digikam to convert still images to dvd compatible mpgs and something called dvdstyler to create the dvd iso. I would be nice to actually have a kde app that can so the job.

If dvd author can compile on 3.1 but needs some special command please tell me.

I increased to Qt 3.2 only because of the GUIs I create with designer.

There is no technical reason why 3.1 should not work with some twisting the *.ui files.

But you can simply d/l the latest Qt library and install in a local folder, set the QTDIR and LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment and compile. That should do the trick.

I did also fix some other minor bugs in the compile process.

Use KDE libraries?

First off all, nice app! You've done a great job!

Simple question: Why not use the KDE libraries? Then you get access to KDE's standard dialogs, icons, io-slaves, process control, translation framework, etc.

Would you be interested in converting to KDE? Or perhaps have a ./configure --with-kde option? If you want help, then I'd be more than willing to make the changes for you. Perhaps you could even embed kaboodle to play movies, as apposed to using xine? You could also invoke konqueror with the man: iosalve to display manpages, or even embed khtml.

cannot create DVD

but....
When I attempt to create a DVD the window comes up that you refrence here:

but mine has no commands in it......When I check the setup I'm not missing anything that's required....but I must be missing somthing...

any ideas?
