Description:

"QNiX" provides theme engines, for both KWin and KDE2 widgets, based on the QNX/Photon user interface. My aim has been to replicate as closely as possible the QNX GUI, while still providing configurability (through standard KDE colour settings) and performance (by using a C++ based engine instead of using pixmaps).

I have Mandrake 8.1 installed and I was able to compile just fine using...
make -f Makefile.cvs ... ./configure --prefix=/usr ... make ... make install ... I love this theme it is awesome!!

 I agree

This widget style is truely beautiful... but then it's based on QNX, which has a lovely original theme all of its own.

I'm guessing the icons are from QNX and so can't be redistributed, which is a pity because they beat the current sub-Aqua ones hands down.

Brown is the new blue...

 re: Icons & comments

Again, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone for the comments. This theme was just something I hacked together myself because I liked the appearance of the QNX OS - I never thought that other people would be interested!

As for the icons in the screenshots, I got most of them by making screen captures of the QNX OS. While I'd like to make an icon theme using these icons (the QNX artists are very talented), I'm sure this would cause copyright problems since none of the icons are originals by me.

Perhaps somebody else could come up with some original matching icons? Anyway, thanks for your interest :)

 checkboxes

The theme is really great, and I'm feeling really at home while using it. One problem came up though : the checkboxes don't show up in konqueror/khtml : on the kde-look.org page, I cannot use the POLL, as I cannot check any answer. A little fix for this would be great !
btw, does someone know where I could find some of the original QNX background pictures ? thanks !

what prefix do you use for Mandrake 8.1 when configuring?

 Checkbox problems

I too am having problems - when using this theme checkboxes/radio buttons in Konquerer do not render. Oddy enough, after immediately switching from QNix back to KDE default (without closing down programs and restarting them to force them to repaint their widgets), Konquer decided to render them with the QNix widgets.

I absolutely love this theme, it'll probably stay on my desktop for a loooonnng time. I have set up with a tan widget color, a bluegreem-ish (is that a word?) stone background, with Kicker full size, icons spaced out, and "Time For Lunch" as it's background. Make the panel look like part of the desktop.

Superb job!
