It's really cool idea. I like it.
But for me there is one thing could be added and would be useful.
Shortcuts ctrl+t, ctrl+f4, f11 and ctrl+tab

I think it can be a good idea.
My knowlege about proxies are very low and i have no idea how to support costum procxy in the gui.

Perhaps you can build a proxy-support via a configuration-file.

Regarding the suggestion for the addition of keyboard shortcuts, I think that the following ones should also be added:

CTRL + E = Show the Edit URL toolbar
1 = Go to the tab on the right side of the currently selected tab.
2 = Go to the tab on the left side of the currently selected tab.
CTRL + ALT + B = Open the Bookmark Manager window with the option to bookmark the page in the currently selected tab.
CTRL + W = Close the currently selected tab.

Ctrl+E: good idea
1 and 2 : I think Ctrl+Left and Ctrl+Right are better
Ctril+B already opens bookmarkmanager. So i only need to add the ability in it.
I didn't mention it, but Ctrl+F4 closes the current tab (unless your system uses the yourcut for something else). Changin to Ctrl+W is no prob at all.

The Ctrl + Left/Right shortcut goes back/forward a page, which isn't the same thing as what I'm asking for 1 and 2 to do.

Lightweight2 shortcuts:
Going back/forward: Alt+Left/Right

And comming
Go one tab left/right
Ctrl+Left/Right

So there is no conflict

I have some suggestions for it

 by Zero3K on: Mar 8 2011

Score 50%

1. Add the ability to make bookmark folders and store bookmarks in them.
2. Add the ability to give a keyword to the bookmark folder so all of the bookmarks in it will open as tabs.
3. Add a configurable disk cache.
4. Add the ability for it to remember and auto-fill/submit typed usernames and passwords.

1: I will try to find a good way to support bookmark-folders
2: That would require some kind of configuration. I am looking for a better way
3: Would require configuration
4: for this i have to store passwords somewhere -> Not a good idea

3 and 4 does not fit in my concept contentrating on surfing. I dont want to have anything that bothers Lightweight2 itself.

I just thought of another suggestion:

7. It should remember what state its window was in (basically, if its maximized when running, it should stay maximized when restarting it).

1.3 already saves if the window was in maximized state and restores it.

I think your Problem with the icons was caused by using a non oxygen style, wich does dot have hoverfeedback on flat PushButtons.
I changed all Pushbuttons to Toolbuttons to solve that problem. 1.4 will have theeses changes.

Do you know where Qt saves the QSettings data on your OS?
If yes: Do you find configs saved by Lightweight2?
I think this problem is OS specific, so my only way to "fix" it, is to save theese data manually in an own file.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: I have some suggestions fo

1. I don't know where the settings for Lightweight2 are stored. So, having it use a file to store its settings (named config or similar), would be good.

2. Regarding the progress bar, it should be located above the scroll bar if there is one in its window and have a background (probably grey colored) so it looks nicer.

3. Regarding the url that's shown when hovering over a link, it shouldn't be in its own bar. Instead, it should be shown in the part of the window that shows the webpage.

1. The storage of theese data are:
Windows: Registry
Unix: Home/.config/
Mac: Uses XML preference files (dont know where they are stored)
For other OS i dont't know where they are stored (That actually the point of using QSettings: Easy access to config without thinking how it is donw)

Is the window always at the Top-Left of the screen, when starting it. Are bookmarks and cookies saved when closing?

Currently i think that QSettings on your OS doesn't store anything. In this case there is a problem on the Qt implementation on your OS.
Does other uses of QSettings work on your OS?

If even bookmarks and cookies are also not saved, then the closeEvent method is not called when closing: This can have several reasons:
1. Closing kills the app.
2. Qt on your OS does not call closeEvent by closing.
3. Methond binding problem (the C++ runtime find the wrong closeEvent). But i can't imangine that.

Sorry for that many questions. I am trying to find out whats wrong.

2. I cant get the height of the scrollbar, or even a info if there is one at all. Since the progressbar is only there while loading, it's not that nasty.
Perhaps i can make it more "intelligent": When going to buttom-left the progressbar goes to button-right, ans vice versa.

3. 1.4 will have the hovered url in the webview integrated. It behaves as it discribed as a proposal for the progressbar.

The Favicon on this page works for me.
The reason why it does not work well for yo could be the problem with QWebSettings::iconForUrl() wich doies not give the wished icon, the first times. For bookmarking i had to use a workaround by saving the icons in an own folder.
