Description:

Oxygen-Gtk is a port of the default KDE widget theme (Oxygen), to gtk.

Its primary goal is to ensure visual consistency between gtk and qt-based applications running under kde. A secondary objective is to also have a stand-alone nice looking gtk theme that would behave well on other Desktop Environments.

Unlike other attempts made to port the kde oxygen theme to gtk, this attempt does not depend on Qt (via some Qt to Gtk conversion engine), nor does render the widget appearance via hard coded pixmaps, which otherwise breaks everytime some setting is changed in kde.

We plan to follow the same release schedule as KDE:

- one major feature release every six month.

These releases where not announced becaues a bug sneaked in just before release that was causing libreoffice to crash and was also affecting the gtk3 version.

Emergency bugfix release due to a crash condition that sneaked in the gtk3-1.3.0 release

New feature release.
No real feature added, except support for the (heavily changed) gtk3-3.10 version. New widgets have been added, and quite some method calls have been deprecated.
We cannot guarantee that this version with work with older releases of gtk3.

oxygen-gtk3 - version 1.2.1
New bug fix release.
For gtk2:
- mark zotero as XUL application
- fix some antialias issue on sliders

For gtk3:
- some improvement on inner-shadows
- some extra checks on widgets validity to prevent runtime warnings
- some rendering improvements for instance regarding scrollbars and textviews

oxygen-gtk3 - version 1.2.0
New feature release of oxygen-gtk2 and oxygen-gtk3. These releases can be compiled and used on non-linux platform (e.g. Windows(r)), and, for the gtk3 version, can run on non X11 backend (e.g. Broadway).
They also include the usual amount of minor bugfixes.

Because, I have the same issue. It shows only in KDE with oxegen-gtk theme.

I installed both gtk2 and gtk3 on Ubutnu 12.04.
This is first time I needed gtk3 version, but seems like gtk3 version should ship with gtk2 also, as I don't think anyone can use just gtk3, but nevermind...

I had expected problem with Unity panel, then with white font color on all widgets. For that reason I included default theme (Amdiance) gtk.css in oxygen gtk.css and additionally changed fg color in kdeglobals file. It looks nice, but I think I'll need to tweak more Ambiance included settings to get it perfect, and I hate it because I don't want to understand those 10000 lines css settings.

Now I thought to ask why are tabs so small. In gtk2 version they were IMHO great, but now they are condensed. Is there any setting I can change tabs height?

So "inactive tabs" are as high in gtk2 and gtk3 here.
Why the active tab is smaller is a gtk3 bug: the same css property is used for the spacing around the tab, and the spacing around the whole tabwidget frame.
So if you want to give more space around the tabs, you end up with a lot of wasted space around the full frame.
See on the screenshot already how the spacing around the text entry is larger for gtk3 than for gtk2. That's exactly the issue.
So ... upstream bug.

As for the other issues you report, I'd rather have them fix in oxygen-gtk (rather than merging css styles, like you did). Could report dedicated (and separated) bugs on https://bugs.kde.org ? Providing screenshots of the issues ?

Hm, no issues for reporting...

Prior to planned report, I removed oxygen-gtk related files and using git downloaded and build fresh packages, afterwhich changing theme to oxygen-gtk shows it in all glory - looks great! (except Unity panel, which has gtk widget color for background, but that's no so important)

I must suspect that issue is with launchpad 1.0.2 packages, as that's waht I used previously. I tried to build latest version just after installing 12.04, but lot of dependencies were needed so I used ready package from Ubuntu repository. Also to back that this is not accident, I asked on askubuntu.com about font issue and one user reported same experiance - white font on light background. That should be reported on Launchpad I guess

OK, I had to restart session to notice issues. I guess some gtk3 settings were cached by previous Ambiance theme

Wont happen any time soon.
Hands full already with oxygen-qt, oxygen-transparent.

Also, a transparent gtk theme will actually make many gtk applications crash, that you have to blacklist, and there are zillions of them.
Might work for *you* (if you are not using applications that crash and have not been blacklisted), but not for *everyone* or you end up with a 500 lines long black-list.

So basically, bottomline is: at least 50% of gtk applications do _not_ support transparency (even if gtk itself does), which makes it practically unusable.

Not to mention gtk3 which is around now.

My setup: Mandriva 2010.2, KDE 4.8.2, gtk 2.24.0.

Mandriva 2010 is quite an old distribution. Most likely your version of Gtk is too old. You'd need to upgrade. There is no way we can support all versions of Gtk since it keeps adding new features (some of which we need badly) every new release.

Can you post the version of Gtk that you are using ?

We do support this version, it's 2.24.0 as said in original post. Just need some fixes to disable building inner shadows code at all (it requires 2.24.2).
Though it's strange that build failed, since the function is available since 2.22.

Hi,

I really like what you have done with oxygen-gtk. Two Thumbs up!

I have however a weird issue. Due to my default color settings for my desktop (Obsidian Coast), I have to run Eclipse in a different theme (otherwise it is difficult to see some text). Additionally I prefer my eclipse to use a different gtk theme.

So I run my eclipse with GTK2_RC_FILES=... prefixed. If I do that (and have oxygen-gtk as my default gtk2 theme) I get strange comboboxes. It has been really driving me crazy.

It can be reproduced with The widget factory as well. You can launch it with

GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/AdwaitaCupertinoL/gtk-2.0/gtkrc twf

If I change my gtk theme to that theme in the GTK settings, then the comboboxes look correct.

Is there something I am missing? Is there any other way I can start eclipse with a different theme?

Most likely settings daemon interferes with your choice. I have no such problem, i.e. twf looks OK with themes like Simple and Glossy while other desktop is using oxygen-gtk.

You were correct. After I killed "xsettings-kde" it worked fine. Is there any way I can set it up to ignore my eclipse instance?

Great job! While installing it I came across some common problems more people will probably run into. It may be worth including these in INSTALL file

oxygen-gtk Could not find X11

sudo apt-get install kdelibs5-dev

You don't need kdelibs5-dev to build oxygen-gtk.
Also, you could just install libgtk-3-dev - it has all the dependencies which cmake checks for, including libcairo2-dev and libx11-dev.

This might be not a good idea to put into INSTALL file, because the instructions generally depend on the distro.
