I dislike wasting space by placing a menubar and the windowtilte above eah other, especially when we remember that widescreen monitors wich get more popular are limited just in the vertical space.
The solution of the globalmenu or mac-menu is disguisting since it only works well with click-to-focus, which I won\'t like to use, so combining them with the titlebar like the windws-itunes seems to be an interesting option.
I just gave my GTK-Theme a xwidth of 80px and used the free space to draw in the titlebuttons with enlightenment, so the pictures above are screenshots and no mockups.
But unlike the apple-software GTK won\'t let you move windows around by dragging in free space of the menu or toolbar, so I left a \"move\" area, which is the disadvantage of this idea for now, but it could e solved via GTK-module in the future.
The fact that my solutin is theme-dependent opens the neceseraty to create a script which modifies the users theme to have the esired xwidth in the menu and to create the window border from this or an user-supplied metacity-theme or picture.
The big advantage of this realization is that its completely a user choice, taking no freedom away from anyone.
I did this some time ago and the project is disfunct for now unil there may be some interest to it or I\'m in the mood and using e16 again.
Note, I did this with e16 as the WM, since I don\'t know any other wich is so configurable...
There is a download now, but the e16-theme is in draft state, its here just to show the feature, so expect graphical inconsistencys and the like.
