Description:

newseven Transformation Pack for KDE 4

I've been inspired by the
Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/?content=104232
to make a better Windows7 Transformation Pack, without torrent download and of course without adding a new user ;)

It was made with
- Plymouth:
Seven Plymouth Theme (GPL) http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/?content=128652
- KDM:
Vistar7 KDM Theme (GPL) http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/?content=117877
- Mouse Theme:
Kubuntaero - Aero based w/ animated logo (GPL) http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/?content=108599
- Aurorae Theme:
seven aurorae (GPL) http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/?content=120296
- Wallpaper:
Tux vs Windows 7 Fish (CC) http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/?content=104561
Tux vs. XP Wallpaper http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/?content=47003
Windows 7 wallpapers, including beta wallpapers (proprietary) (source: Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack)
- KDE Splash:
Vistar7 Splash (proprietary) (source: Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack)
- Usericon:
default Windows 7 user picture (proprietary) (source: Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack)
- Icontheme:
Win7 Icon theme (proprietary/unknown) (source: Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack)
- Color:
Vistar7 color scheme (public domain) (source: Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack)
- QtCurve: Windows 7 QtCurve Theme (GPL) http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/?content=141539
- Fonts:
Segoe UI, Calibri and Cambri fonts from Microsoft (proprietary) (source: Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack)
- Sound:
all Windows 7 sound themes (proprietary) (source: Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack)
- Plasma Theme:
Vistar7 plasma theme, based on Glassified (GPL) (source: Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack)

Installation:
Maybe it's good idea to quit KDE and install it from console (STRG + ALT + F1)
- change to Transformation Pack directory
- chmod +x install.sh
- sudo ./install.sh

If you are not able to be root, use the install_userfiles.sh
But note that it will not install the whole Package

Deinstallation:
- chmod +x deinstall.sh
- sudo ./deinstall.sh (or deinstall_userfiles.sh)

I have tested it on Kubuntu with KDE4.8, i don't know how it work on other Distributions. Please tell me if or if not work on others

ps: i know, the look is not perfect yet, so if you can help to make it better you are welcome, write a comment

Changelog:

0.5 Drop Smooth Tasks and use Icon Tasks instead (KDE 4.8) Updated Plymouth Theme and change some color
0.4 Add a new Colorscheme and a QtCurve config file (For a more better look, change bgndOpacity to 50 and activate the kwin Blur effect)
0.3 Installscript now support Kubuntu, Fedora, Suse and Mandriva (i hope it works ;-) )
0.2: Modify install script and adding a deinstall script
0.1: first release

Wow! It works really good here on my Kubuntu 10.04 with KDE 4.5 :)

But you said you changed the install script in 0.2, but what did you modify? Is it something that makes it worth installing the new version?

The new install script now contains a backup function. But its not a good idea to use it, if you allready installed the old one. So its not necessary to download the package again ;)

I'd love to use this, but I use openSUSE which doesn't use Plymouth. Will the test of the script still work?

I hope so, the installscript normally would not install the plymouth theme if SUSE was detected

Can you explain what is happen? Did you ever had problems with compositing and kwin effects? Wich KDE version do you use?

The pack activate compositing and some kwin desktop effects, maybe its a problem with your graphic card driver.
Try to deactivate the desktop effects (open the ~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc and change "Enabled=true" to "Enabled=false" in the "[Compositing]" section)

kwin desktop effects deactivate, enable compiz - nowhere hang, change of desktop theme (h2O) with this design like until you hang up. Distribution - Fedora 13, kde-4.5.2

Hi all, I may be rude and you may rate me down, but : WHY ?

Why do you try transforming your absolutely awesome OS into the priceless sh** sold by Tinysoft ?
This is a thing I can't understand !
I enjoy showing everbody that I have Linux, that I can use it, I can customize it as I want !

^^

That's it.
Anyways,your theme really looks like Windope's ;)

I know what you mean and i don't use win for years, but I think the design of Win7 is still quite beautiful. Also people who switch from windows 7 to kde need's something familiar
