Why are you putting KDE material on a gnome site? Wouldn't it go over better on kdelook.org?

this is an emerald theme... it goes on both sites automatically.

I've made this mistake before too :P

Emerald themes are compatible with the GNOME desktop environment. If you are running Compiz-fusion in GNOME, you can still use this Emerald theme.

Not true. Emerald themes can be used on KDE too with Smaragd: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Smaragd+(Emerald+for+KDE)?content=125162

I'm using Smaragds atm and it works reaaaally good, no bugs so far and all the Emerald themes I've tested work fine with it :)
So next time please do a little research before posting that it's only compatible with GNOME.

I wouldve deduced that you wouldve understood implicitly that I meant that its compatible with both KDE as well since the author's screenshot is clearly using it in KDE. However I frequently make the habit of underestimating how smart some individuals are. Hence, that joke of a comment directly above this one.

Not just KDE or GNOME, either

Not only does Emerald work in GNOME or KDE, but it also works in Xfce. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't think there are any distros that feature Xfce that have everything pre-installed for Compiz/Emerald. With most if not all distros that use Xfce for their desktop, I think you have to download and install several things to get it working with Xfce, but I know for a fact that it can be done, because I'm an Xfce user and I've got Compiz/Emerald up and running right now.

I've also heard a rumor that you can run Emerald in LXDE, but I don't know for a fact if that's true or not. Does someone here know for sure if this is possible?

If you can run Compiz in LXDE, you can run Emerald in LXDE as well. However I don't know if it's supported natively.

Dreamlinux 3.5 Xfce edition comes with Compiz/Emerald pre-installed. Works like a charm :)

Aren't there already like a zillion Emerald themes that knock-off the Windows Vista / Windows 7 Aero window decoration? I mean, seriously. How is yours possibly any different from the literally dozens of others? Just wondering.

Ah, to the untrained eye, perhaps they are similar. But to the eye that has brains, there are distinct and subtle differences among most of them -- the devil is in the details and this is the closest reproduction the the great looking Windows 7 windecs i've seen so far.

To the author: what are your blur settings in compiz?

LOL. That's funny steveke.

Thank you for sending me the photo of your blur settings sima84. It appears the only setting changed from default is the blur type, to mipmap, which looks rather good on windecs with a high amount of transparancy.
