 User experience

Well, it wasn't for me. After seeing it up close on my PC I decided I didn't really care for it. I mean, some of the coloring is nice and all but I can do that kind of stuff with Gnome Color Chooser.
Not too keen on the widgets and window borders. Too generic, it's like Shiki with barely visible mouseovers, nothing revolutionary - nice colors though. There are also some usability issues with things like selected text visibility in input boxes and the like.
The icons and cursors are nice, my personal favorites, in fact I was already enjoying them before I ever installed Elegant-Gnome but they were annoyingly removed when I uninstalled it.
Wallpaper has nice colors but the text is a tad bombastic, a textless version would be much nicer.
I don't know how, but I think it may have buggered up my gdm. Now, every time I log out and back in again I have to type in my name (single user machine) and I can't seem to get it back to the way it was using Ubuntu's Login Screen applet. I'll figure it out though.
In short, everything was perfect on this partition until I installed the pack and then removed it.
*BTW, I did use it to revert all changes it made prior to removal(I'm not a complete retard, only partial lol).*
No prob, after my initial irritation I reinstalled my stuff but I don't think I'll be down for any subsequent releases. Thanks anyway.

FYI: Ubuntu 10.04.1, Murrine 0.91.0-git201009100045-daily1-lucid1, gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu3.

Ok, I'm not gonna comment the part related to the appearance, this is all just about your tastes. I'll just say a few words.
First of all, i hope you were running the latest 0.8.0 version, coz in the latest release I've worked alot at the GTK theme's look. The second thing about the theme - yeah, i'm the one who hates the glossy, too much gradient themes. There're too much dark themes, which got all this stuff, that's why actually i've started this project. The window border buttons are simple, but they do the job. I wanna you to understand - I'm not creating something revolutionar,y i'm creating the most complete, usable and bugless dark gtk theme.

Don't really understand this part.

Mm.. Do you understand how the packages install in the system?

If you had the AwOken and Neutral folders in /usr/share/icons before installing the pack, when you install the elegant-gnome pack(wich actually also contains the AwOken and Neutral folders), the AwOken and Neutral folders in /usr/share/icons will be replaced with the folders that come with the elegant-gnome package. And of course, when you remove the elegant-gnome package, the folders AwOken and Neutral will be removed.

Restoring function just restores your previous settings and it do this as it should. I've tested it too much times, so I can say
confidently that it works fine.

I don't think there are bug-free themes, dark or light... what i don't like is:
this is the most complete, bug-free and elegant theme (better pack, so wrong section).. this is something the user should say, not the author.
I don't need, no one needs, author's suggestion on how to judge a theme.

I've never seen in my life a Ferrari called supercool or whatever, simply because there is a thinking audience.

Ok, so this is just misunderstanding.
I said:

Actually, it's impossible to create something perfect. And I was trying to say, that i'm trying to make te most complete and bugless dark theme, because all the dark themes, that i've tried before had the same bugs, wich actually i'm trying to fix.

Yes, I do actually. However, just as a suggestion - Would it be possible to install the same icon and cursor themes to a directory that is unique for Elegant-Gnome rather than the folders where they would reside by default if a person already had the packs?
Just a suggestion.
As far as the GDM thing, don't ask me bro. I don't have a clue as to how or why installing and then removing some theme stuff could possibly cause a problem there. I'm just a dumb noob.

But if it would be helpful to you,
I have a single user machine set to logon automatically.
Until yesterday, when I would log out for an abbreviated restart or something the default behavior was for it to bring me to the login screen with my username preselected. Ever since I removed the package it brings me to a blank login screen (no username preselected.)

Beats me. Something changed after I removed the package.

About the GDM, have you tried go to System - > Login Screen, and select Login as ... automatically?

Btw, I can say that there is nothing inside the script's code, that can change the login settings. The script just changes the values for : GTK theme, Icons theme, Wallpaper and Font.

I think, i understand what is the problem. I've already explained to some guy how the backup function works(like a few pages before), and here is the cite from that post:
Quote:
So let me explain how it works. When you install the pack, the utility creates the full dump of the gnome's settings, so that means, after removing the pack, all your gnome settings(including the compiz settings) will be restored to the values that were before the installing the pack. Actually that means, when you make some changes in the gnome settings after installing the pack, you will lose this changes as soon as you will choose the "Restore the previous settings", because the Elegant GNOME app will use the settings that it has backuped before.

I understand what you're saying. Don't make assumptions. I'm a noob but a relatively adept one.

I only had the thing installed for about a day and during that time I made no changes to my login parameters or to any other part of the system for that matter. I did however use it to go back and forth between my normal themes and EG three times and as I recall EG was part of yesterday's updates.

Yes, I know how to change the login. (duh) But for the life of me, am having a hard time restoring myself as the default user for login after I log out while still retaining my autologin at boot. It used to work great. It shouldn't be a big deal, I'm the only account on this crazy thing other than root.

I prefer to do things by cli anyway, then I can see whats happening and it's a lot easier to fix things if it goes south. I'm just a victim of my own laziness.

When I have time, I'll go back to my Ubuntu install and fix it. There's always a way. It only has another month to live anyway before I upgrade. Damned non-rolling distros! Grrr...

Login fixed. Thank heavens for Ubuntu Tweak. Darned handy little tool!
The login list was obviously disabled and if you try to enable it from the Login Screen settings in Ubuntu (the native settings applet truly sucks!) you lose the auto-login. Ubuntu Tweak simply enables or disables the list without effecting the boot time auto-login.
Yay! All is well now and again, I am almost going to hate nuking this setup for Maverick.
Cheers!

I'm having a small issue. I installed this in Linux Mint running in VirtualBox and for some reason, the terminal is transparent without guest additions but opaque with them.

any thoughts on how I can fix?

I think this is one of the best looking themes I've seen btw.

I use an Ubuntu on Virtualbox for testing purposes, and i've seen this bug once(actually it doesn't appear on real machine)
Try to do this:
1. Open terminal
2. Go to Edit -> Profile Preferences
3. Choose the Background tab
4. Switch the background type to Solid color and then switch back to Transparent.

What do you mean when you say "I don't have the elegant log in screen at all"?

Does it mean that you chose the "Configure GDM2 theme", but you still have the default GDM2 theme?

I'm finding the text on the bookmark bar is too dark (too close to the background colour).I think that it would be better if it was the same colour as the tab title text... In fact, a lot like the colours you get if you switch to "Use GTK+ theme" but a bit less white.

The Google Chrome is a pretty good and fast browser, but when it comes to GTK intergration, this app becomes a piece of crap. Because of the theming restrictions I can't just change the bookmarks font color, coz this will change the font color in other parts of the theme(where the font color shouldn't be light).
