I've faced such problem once before, the way to fix this is to remove ~/.gconf/apps/compiz folder and restart X server.

I have installed this successfully on Ubuntu 10.04. I'm using it right now as I type this. I did completely uninstall the previous version before installing this version.

Actually i don't use amule(i don't even know what it is), so i need at least a screenshot, coz it can be just an application-related problem.

Ok, i've googled a bit about this app, and as i understood it uses wxWidgets as a GUI toolkit, this toolkit has an ability to look like a GTK app, but sometimes it doesn't use GTK colors correctly.

 Components and theme?

Hi. i really like your theme and want to create a rpm for Mandriva Linux. I wonder if i use original Awoken icon theme, re crono gtk theme and ComixCursors theme for my rpm, will it look like in screnshots or did you modified them? Also i wonder if Elegant GTK Theme is a modified version of re crono gtk theme?

I have some suggestions also. Instead of including all those themes in your source package, doesn' t it better to write a script to install those themes from gnome-look ( or devian-art)? And apply your modifications (if any)?

The AwOken icon theme still got some bugs, that i've already fixed before, like icons for ubuntu messaging menu, icon for not installed packages in synaptic, missing icons in ubuntu software center, etc. Also it includes bunch of icons that i don't use at all, like icons for different folder colors, dark-gray icons, bunch of distro logos etc.

About the Re Crono theme, it was also modified with different fixes.
I took the Re Crono theme as a base for Elegant GTK, but almost all parts of that theme were changed: metacity theme, breadcrumbs style, panel style, colors, etc.
With this theme i try to get rid of things that i don't like in Re Crono.
Actually this is the last release of the pack with the Re Crono theme.

About the cursors, I think about changing the current theme, coz the current cursors is too dark for a new GTK theme, maybe it will bases on the ComixCursor souces, at least for now, i can't say exactly. I've been trying to find good-matching cursors, but still with no luck.

OK. I' m a bit curious. I' ve made a Mandriva rpm without your modified Awoken icon theme and comixcursors. I' ve used original themes. But i used your modified re crono gtk theme. I got different look from screenshots. I wonder why? It is normal to have different look with icons and cursor but also gtk theme looks different. I' m unable to fix this. May be you can help me. You can look into my srpm and help me to fix this.
You can find my srpm here:

ftp://ftp.linux.org.tr/pub/mandriva-tr/2010.1/SRPMS/gtk-theme-elegant-gnome-0.5.0-1mvt2010.1.src.rpm

Also here is what my desktop looks like after installing the rpm:

Good news. I have found the solution. Just go to gnome-appearance-properties > customize > colors > reset to defaults. That's all. But this situation may show us elegant-gnome.sh script has a bug. We need to apply above fix automatically; at least on Mandriva...

Ok, it just looks like, that you've changed the GTK colors manually before, but when you do something manually, you should understand what you do, to return everything back. So i don't really understand about what "bug" you are talking about. Script applied the new GTK theme and did this as it should, this is what actually it suppose to do. You got a specific use-case, wich the script shouldn't cover.

The same problem in Ubuntu lucid. After install it simply do not set the right colors. I have to click this magic button to get the desired result. However in fact the broken version I liked a bit more.
