Description:

Tired of searching a SIMPLE Servicemenu to just attach any file (or file group) to a mail in Thunderbird, I decided to write my own service.

If you use Mandriva or OpenSuSE, put it under:
~/.kde4/share/kde4/services

On Fedora and Kubuntu Oneiric under:
~/.kde/share/kde4/services

If other, I think the correct path is something like:
~/.kde4/share/apps/dolphin/services

If you want the Thunderbird icon, you should edit the line "Icon" like this "Icon=/usr/lib/thunderbird/chrome/icons/default/default16.png". If you use 64bits version, you should look in /usr/lib64/thunderbird_version/chrome/icons/default/default16.png.

It is fully proven to work in a 64bits system, KDE 4.5, TB 3.0.7. Since the last modifications, i don't know if it's still working on 32bits systems, please report your experiences. PLEASE ALWAYS report thunderbird version, system architecture and distro.

Should work!

PS: Don't forget to try my other servicemenu for compressing before sending

Thank you.
For openSUSE 11.2 it's the same path as in Mandriva: ~/.kde4/share/kde4/services/

To get an icon I changed the icon-lane to
Icon=/usr/lib/thunderbird/chrome/icons/default/default16.png

Wohooo! This one Works! Great!

Also with multiple Files!

But I had to Change the Icon Line in openSuse 11.2 for my 64 bit version:

64 Bit:
Icon=/usr/lib64/thunderbird/chrome/icons/default/default16.png

 add multiple files

Hi. Thanks for this. Got it working with openSUSE 11.2 in Dolphin, but only for single files. If I make a multiple selection it only adds one of them as an attachment. Is there any way to change this?

Just edit the Exec line like this:

Exec=thunderbird -compose "attachment='file:/$(echo %F | sed 's/\\ \\//,file:\\/\\//g')'"

 ptbr trans ; fix

hi,
for brazilian portuguese it is:
"Anexar ao Thunderbird E-mail"

I had to fix the 'Exec' line to:
thunderbird -compose "attachment='file:///$(echo %F | sed 's/\\ \\//,file:\\/\\//g')'"

note the [file:///$], otherwise TB couldn't find the attachment.
I'm using Kubuntu 10.04

regards

Hi,

Thanks. I added the language, but I don't know if [br] is correct, could you tell me?

Second: I have installed the latest Thunderbird and also changed to 64bits architecture, and had the same problem like you. I solved it modifying the command as you wrote. Now I don't know if TB didn't find the attach because it is a new version, or because it is a 64bit version. Could you tell me what version and architecture you're using?
