Description:

Plastikfox is a theme for Mozilla Firefox to make it have the same look as the KDE programs with the Plastik style and the Crystal SVG 1.0 icon set.

ABOUT THE OK AND CANCEL BUTTONS: Firefox 1.5 doesn't have OK and Cancel buttons anymore in the Options dialog but it's possible to enable them again. Just write "about:config" in the address bar, search for the key "browser.preferences.instantApply" and set it to false. The OK and Cancel buttons should be there back again.

BUTTON ORDER: You can reverse the button order in the dialog boxes so they are like in the other KDE applications. Simply click "Reverse button order" to install a patch to activate this feature.

COLOR SCHEME: Plastikfox doesn't follow the KDE color scheme. Remember it's just a theme for Firefox, so it's impossible to do it. It's made with the 'Plastik' color scheme. If you want to change the color scheme you'll have to modify the theme manually. :(

Thanks to Everaldo for his Crystal SVG icon sets. You can get them at:
http://www.everaldo.com

-------------------------------------
HOW TO INSTALL
-------------------------------------

If you have an older version of the theme, uninstall it before installing a new one.

· Extract the files anywhere you want
· Open the install.html file in Firefox (you don't need to be 'root')
· Click the "Install" button
· Accept when it prompts for the theme installation
· 'Tools' menu - Themes
· Select 'Plastikfox Crystal SVG' and click 'Use this theme'
· Restart Firefox (VERY IMPORTANT!)
· Enjoy!

If you want, you may delete the downloaded files once the theme is installed.

-------------------------------------
POLL
-------------------------------------

Your opinion counts! I would like to know if you prefer keeping the current icon set or changing the icons to the ones included in KDE 3.5. Please vote here:

 Color Changes ?

by JimB on: Jun 8 2005

I still think this is one of the best FF themes and well integrated into the menus, download, statusbar etc..

Is it however possible for me to change the 2 main colors you use, (lightblue/darkblue into lightviolet/darkviolet) for Menu's & submenu's: preselect/menuselection, Download ProgressBar: background/progressbar, Tabs background color, ProgressBar in statusbar.
Also I can't get a close button on each tab while using TabMix. If I use the Phoenity 1.4.1 theme the close buttons appear, but vanish with your theme. I think the tabbutons are 1.5mm to high. Thanks.

Plastikfox is a pixmap-based theme so it wouldn't be easy to change the colors, you would need to modify the CSS files and also edit the images with GIMP or something similar.

What will be much easier to modify is the icons, as I'm creating a program that automatically picks up your KDE icons and puts them in the theme, so there will be no need for different versions of Plastikfox with different icon themes. Check out the screenshots in the Mozillux web site. Perhaps in the future I could try to create a program to pick up your native KDE widgets (including the colors) but that would be much harder to implement and perhaps not possible.

Which version of TabMix are you using? It worked for me the last time I used it. Are you using more extensions? If so, try disabling the other extensions to see if it works now.

 Ticks not visible

Nice skin nonetheless, but unfortunately the boxes that contain ticks (options) when ticked are not visible, remove the tick and the empty box appears.

Using Windows XP and Firefox 1.04 here.

Does this theme support Deer Park Alpha 2 (Firefox 1.1)?

How about a plastik Firefox theme with the best KDE icons of all...nuoveXT? I'm not really into these other icon types, crystal, etc.

 with Google toolbar

I love this theme, and have been using since I started using Firefox. Thank you for creating such a nice theme.

Just one thing (but this is very important for me). Google toolbar stops working after Plastikfox installed. It doesn’t start searching even when I click the search button. It happens with not only Fifefox 1.0 + previous version’s Plastikfox, but also Firefox 1.5 + Plastikfox alpha.

Sorry, after uninstalling all extentions, themes and fifefox itself, google toolbar works with Plastikfox. Thanks.

I had the same problem with FF 1.0.7 + Plastikfox 1.6 but it worked once I disabled/uninstalled the Web Developer extension.

I do not know if the samething happens with the FF 1.5 and plastikfox 2.0 Alpha because I did not test it.

I just hope that the developer tests its theme with the Google Toobar before releasing it.
